Maxima vs Scion TC

Hey guys. My buddy just stoped by with this bran new 05 Scion TC 5speed, and i was impressed. I like the look of it and it shifted woderfully, the clutch pedal was nice and short along with the shifter. The car had great throttle response and handed alright. I want to say it was faster than my 98 SE 5speed. i tried to find the quarter mile time online and i guess the autos run a high fifteens but i predict that this 5speed ran a low 15 - 15 flat. Wut do u guys think of these against a max, i figured a 5.5 gen could probly take one but i dunno about my 4th gen.

i have personally burned one at the track. I had a bad launch and watched a TC once get 2-3 car lengths ahead, but before the end of the eigth i was ahead, by the end of the quarter i could easily see the driver in the rear view. BTW, im a 5.5 auto and i only had an intake + muffler.

what are your mods? even if you're stock you would prolly pull on him a little bit, if you have i/y/e you'll prolly put a couple cars on him by 3rd gear

I drive Scion's all the time at work, Toyota/Scion dealership, they're nice looking but really lacking in power. 4 cylinder, 2.4L only 160 horses, and about 160 ft. lb. torque. 0-60 in about 8 seconds.

The interior is sort of strange, Bucket seats are nice, but I don't like the radio setup. TRD supercharger will set you back about $4000 for the TC, but then I think the TC might take you. A bone stock TC can be beaten.

I think the next gen TC is rumored to have about 250 HP. It's Toyota's car to replace the Celica.

you can also buy a turbo for it which will cost about 2k and bump to a monstrous 205hp.

your max= 190hp and that scion is 160hp. Yes the scion is a little lighter then you. But i this is one of those cases where there is no replacement for displacement type of thing.

Even bone stock the 5.5 gen will stomp that TC. Those 5.5's are fast. I had an 02' auto and that thing was pretty quick and nimble. I miss it.

dude, no competition.....especially if your 5 speed 4th gen....an auto 4th gen vs a stick tc....now that seems like a good race to me. TC is pretty much a light weight camry(4 cyl)

The Scion TC looks nice when you're driving next to one. I went to the dealer and once you sit/look close at it it's butt ugly.

A 5 speed TC should run a 1/4 mile with a good driver 15.7
