VG30 auto into a VQ30?
VG30 auto into a VQ30?
I know.... WHY?
Easy, i have a 3rd gen with a brand new tranny (rebuilt with less then 2000 miles) and a 4th gen auto that never has had any work (all original) that still runs like a champ and has never been beaten on.
Im sure that in time the tranny will crap out, so............
Can the autos swap? If so, even with axle swap, it would be cheaper then having another 2000/2500 for a tranny rebuild. Has anyone done it?

Thats what i figured also. But, since some parts from the different gens will bolt up with minor modifications/parts swap, i wasnt sure if it was possible. Im just trying to get out cheaper by using the tranny we just had built. If its not feasable, then i may just sell/trade the 3rd gen and see if i can get some local members help with a 5sp swap or maybe trade a tranny shop owner for some granite countertops!
i used to have the VG auto tranny and they have lots of problems.. mine recently went out.. and lots of peopel have issues with the VG trannys..... if you are gonan get a 3rd gen tranny.. get the one tha bolts up to the VE......it is a stronger tranny and has the same bolt pattern as the VG... so if the VG tranny bolts uup to the VQ.. then the VE will... but i dont think the VQ and VG trannys are same bolt pattern
So..... i (could) take the 3rd gen tranny to the transmission shop, have them pull the 4th gen auto (Whenever it decides to go) and use the parts in the rebuild. I could inquire about it, but it almost sounds like the cost of the parts swap would offset the discount of using the 3rd gen parts to begin with.
/ well that sucks
// unless someone would be interested in trading a complete, nice 3rd gen for a 5sp swap
/// slashies are fun

Ok guys I really hate to do this. I just got my membership to this site and have very important questions that need to be answered ASAP. Only for some reason the moderators won't let me post my questions in my own thread.
Can I thread steal here for a second? I appologize to gotmilk2000 for this.
I work at a tow yard and have the opportunity to buy a 94 Infinity Q45 first thing tomorrow morning for only $3,000. I did a little homework on it and apparently it has close to 300 hp stock from the 4.5 V8 and a 90mm throttle body. I plan for this to be a daily driver with the ability to knock out some F body Camaro's. I plan to fabricate my own intake, header, and exhaust as well as possibly backing it up with a 75 shot from an NX wet kit. Maybe even a streetable cam regrind.
My question is who should I send the ECU to for recalibrating my shift points for quicker response, and tweaking my rev limiter? I'm questioning weather or not it would be wise to have them alter fuel maps and ignition tables since I plan to squeeze.
I plan to have the car completely done with all mods including ECU mods by next week. That's why I need to know who to send the ECU to ASAP.
Any help would be greatly appretiated. I'm also hoping someone will spot this post and put it in it's own thread for me since I haven't yet been granted that privelage.
Again, my appologies to you all and especially the thread starter, gotmilk2000
