My question is (and I'm not asking this to be stupid, I'm serious), why are you touching your exhaust?

wouldnt happen to be that the extremely hot exhaust gases are actually HEATING the metal...

That's like gluing your face to your headers and being surprised that you'll have to wear a head bandage for a month.

Conclusion: Skin and hot exhausts don't like each other.

I think his muffler bearing got loose. That's probably what made it so hot.

Wow, u just made the idiot of the year...I know its too early in the year to call it but with a stunt like that, you are the winner hands down. You should try to touch a lightbulb right after you turn off the light or touch your brake rotor right after you put your car on park.

BTW, the reason why the stock muffler tip isn't that hot is because of the ring trim around the actual exhaust tip that gets hot. Nissan probably designed it that way so that they won't get sued if someone like you does the unthinkable.

something similar happened to me. way back in the day, i had a little dirt bike, a 125cc or something. i had just replaced the clutch lever and i wanted to test it out. So i just went on a quick little ride in the woods behind my house. i hit a gnarly root or rock or something and i lost control and the bike fell right on top of me. wouldn't have been too bad, but the exhaust pipe landed right on my leg and since i just wanted to take it out for a quick spin, i didn't bother switching from shorts to pants. the skin just peeled off of my leg and was hanging there as i ran in the house. i avoided my parents cuz i thought they would be mad! haha, obviously, i had to tell them cuz it hurt so damn much. i had to bring extra gauze to school for a few days cuz it pussed so much. amazingly, there is no scar whatsoever.

Now you seriously didn't think your exhaust wouldn't be hot? Think before you act. "Someone get this guy a hellmet. Oh, and pot holders"

Maybe when you touched your stock exhaust before it was cooled down? Either way, that was a pretty stupid thing to do.

the stock se muffler has a tip thats not compleatly touching the muffler, so it probably dissapeted the heat faster. kind of like a heat sink. the sp2 tip also has more mass and can keep in more heat. oh and they are different metals i assume. basic thermal dynamics.

Jebus. This reminds me of when I was doing Poly LCA bushings. I had just got done burning the bushing out when my friend walked up and asked what I was doing. I told him, and got up to take a break. He started getting under the car so I said
"Hey you see that part right there?"
He replied "Yes"
me "Well dont touch it I just got done heating it up with a torch for about 10 minutes"
him "Ok"..........."OUCH GODD@MN THATS HOT!!!!!!!!"

Some people just arent that smart.

Thanks, At least someone has some clue why the after market is hotter then stock muffler. People do make mistake, I did not expect it to be that hot..

Now can we pass on.....
