New max or wait till 2007

OK. I have beed approved for an auto loan for $25k and I was thinking of buying an 02-03 max se. My 3rd gen needs a bit of work to the engine right now, it sounds like a quiet diesel engine. Im thinking of either fixing it ,or part it out and buy a 5th gen max. Thats really what I want to do but I hate car notes...and the full coverage insurance bs. Im sure I would be happy with the 6 speed max and all but I want one from an org member instead of a dealer. That way Im sure it'll be cheaper and might have some mods already. Im seing nothing on Carmax or Vehix.com that I like cause theyre all auto's or ugly color. What to do . What to do. ALL I want is a black 5th gen manual with leather and all options. Is that too much.

Buy the 6-speed. Well worth it.

The new sentra looks like a compact maxima from the front end and the rear end almost looks like the altima.

Oooo....very nice. I likey! A rarity and low miles too! Even so, the price is higher than what I would expect to pay for something like that. Edmunds estimates $17.2k for dealer, but only $14.8 for private. Wow! That's a real eye opener. For that difference, I'd much rather buy from a trustworthy private seller with full records and a couple mods. But I wouldn't blame ya for snapping that one up either. GL.

Talk em down, but ultimately go for it. Great cars. I doubt the 07 Maxima will warrant the extra $10k over a 5.5 gen.
