I recently installed my new xdrill/slotted rotors and ceramic pads that I purchased from AutoMax95. They look great, but I am getting way too much brake dust. I've tried two different types of ceramic pads (including the ones that cam with the rotors), but I'm getting the same result...more brake dust!
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I've got the same setup as jsmithhole.

 

Try using a ceramic brake pad. At the shop I work at we use the Wagner Thermoquiet Brake Pads and IMO I think they are the best. All the high end cars (BMW, Audi, Benz) that we have worked with all come back and tell us how good the pads are and how little brake dust they have now compared to when they had OEM.

 

Thanks, but if you read my post you'll see I used to two different sets of CERAMIC pads.

 

I used the ones that came with the deal and I do have brake dust but not too bad...by the way you got PM...

 

Mine dusted for a month or so... Not much after. You will have to get used to the tick-tick-ticking everytime the pads touch. Just bear with it for awhile, it will surpass

yeah, the dust should reduce a lot after they're nicely "broken in."

 

Hawk brake pads are excellent and leave little brake dust.

 

Hey Guys. Just finished painting my calipers.
I went with sliver.

 

Looks good. I'll probably do the same once the summer hits. New brakes are needed so badly right now but i don't have the money for them.

i just recently went to the dealership cuz of my braking issues. When applying my brakes at high speeds my streering wheel shook and seemed like i wasnt slowing down in time. The service manager told me that my front rotors had been warped due to braking at high speeds. he said that my brakes were getting hot from my braking pattern and transftering high heat to my rotors. From this my rotors became warped. he said that the only way to fix them was to machine them. I decided to repair them cuz i had no choice it cost $257 dollars to machine the rotors and replace the front brake pads. I am wondering now if i got ripped off or not. help me out guys. thanks

 

u could have bought a set of rotors here for that price shipped. dealerships "turn" rotors as a courtesy for the 1st 16k miles sometimes more.

i have powdercoated slotted rotors and pads in the closet and SS lines on the way.... just waiting paitently on the oems to say when by then i should know which of my ideas will work best for the calipers.

I know you have less choices up in Folsom. My mechanic charges $45(1hr) labor for a brake job. Normally he recommends a $15 rotors machined. You got ripped big time. If you don't believe me, goto Kragen or Autozone (or maybe Pepboys) and ask them how much they charge to machine a couple of rotors.

 

from my experience with my last car, they will dust for awhile so the pads wear in with the rotors, and then you will be fine.

I went every day spraying my rims with water and dust cleaner, but they stop doing it after alittle while. I guess you are in a waiting period like I went through..

I will recommend the stainless lines, with them I don't think I have to go drilled rotors cause the car stops so much better with them. I mean they do work really well....

 

Those decals on the calipers look great, I still need order me a set.

 

2 questions,

1 all you guys with painted calipers...you painted them yourself or they are special calipers that you have to order...and as far as the nissan decal...were do i get those?
