Look what I got :)

So I met with a guy who used to have a max locally and he hooked me up with some stuff.

Addco RSB:

and heres one I didn't see comming:

I have never dealt with shocks or struts so do these look ok? He told me the back ones are great, but that 1 of the front ones might have some wear on it(besides the age and little bit of rust)

I'm not really sure what to look for in shocks or struts so if anyone can help or if you need me to supply more photos let me know. Hopefully they are fine and I can get them on my car!

I would not buy those shocks. Why get something that already "has some wear." I personally, would not by used shocks even if they were in a prefect condition. Buying used shock is like buying used underwear IMO. Besides, those are probably the worst aftermarket shocks for our cars.

I would also agree. I had these brand shocks on my '95, and they were alright. But, I would definitely not put these on my 2K. Plus, they look used.

one more with I forgot to mention: If you plan to use them with OEM springs, you handling will get worse because they are 15% stiffer than stock shocks.

the shocks were given to me for free. I have to change my shocks and stuff soon anyways and he told me they have wear but they have mostly been sitting in his garage. If I was going to put these on my car I would get springs to lower at the same time. Still not worth it?

yes, as long as you trust him that the struts were not blown. contact addco for the hardware unless it was just not in the pic. i have had gr-2s for a while and no regrets at all.

why would he give them to you for free?
If they are not blown yet there's still a risk that they are about to blow (in such condition) Keep in mind that you will have to do alignment after you install them, which costs $$.

Maybe it's just me but I think if you ganna mess with the car that already has decent handling for a street vehicle you should get only the best.

The boots on those struts look quite worn, you should avoid buying them.

I planned on having them looked before actually putting them on my car. They were giving to me because they were taking up room in his garage and he needed to get the stuff out. I got the RSB for $15 with hardware just not pictured.he no longer has a max and he wanted to clear out some room. I've been talking to the guy on a local area car forum and he is a really cool guy. I didn't even know he had these till i got there.

if u got them for free, i see why not to get them put on, especially if u can do the install yourself. If not, and u dont see yourself buying any shocks atleast 6-7 months from now, i would have them put on after having a shop carefully look at them. I'm not a big fan of GR2's either (tokico baby ) but they are still better than stock and they are free so u cant complain, even if they only have 5,000 miles of life on them.
