9004/9007 wiring upgrade

I came across this on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/9004-...spagenameZWDVW) while reading about the 9004 to 9007 conversion.

I was wondering if i could just get the ebay harness, plug it into my stock harness, and just cut and swtich the high and low beam wires of the ebay harness, and finnally plug in the 9007 bulbs to the harness set up....?

Stupid question here.
Why would one want to convert from 9004 to 9007?

Supposely, the 9007 is better than the 9004. I plan on converting after my 9004 dies.

People sell the whole plug and play kit for 25 bucks or so, no splicing requried. You can get those high temp harness at any auto place almost, it is cheaper, but you have to cut your harness off. I would rather be able to unplug and turn back to stock, but 9007 is much brighter and longer, good upgrade.

Its not a stupid question and it seems like you don't spend too much time on here to know that there is a whole thread in the stickies that addresses this. I think its a great mod. and cheap.

i ve read the long threat in the stickies about this. It seems like a lot of people are either buying a complete wiring harness that includes the fuse, relay, etc for like 100 bucks or just switch their stock wires.

I m only asking if i should get that little ebay wire extension thing with thicker wires than the stock max's because i had a friend who also converted from 9004 to 9007 in his integra with only his stock wireharness and over time the wireharness had melted.

The stickie said my stock wiring SHOULD be able to take the extra 10 watts, but i would just want to be a bit safer.

I bought the 9004/9007 conversion kit from autozone. Instead of splicing wires I used the old 9004 bulbs and clipped the bulb piece off to show the 3 electrical connectors and just connected the ends of the new harness to the 3 connectors (just make sure you cross the wires for the LB and Ground. This way I didnt have to splice my original harness and if a 9007 bulb ever goes out I can detach the new harness and use a 9004 bulb in the old 9004 harness if I dont have the option to dremel a new 9007 bulb to fit.

^^ thats a good idea.

you could also buy a pair of 9004/90007 plugs and tap off the oem wires leaving the oem plug. then you would have 2 plugs per side, one for 9004 and one for 9007.

either way the ebay auction is whats needed, and those are hella cheap. advanced auto carries them for $13 or so.

yah I thought of tapping into the oem wires but didnt want to deal with it, wanted it to look clean if I ever had to take off the 9007 conversion and not have to worry about.
