05 Altima SE-R exhaust, can it go on 02-03 Max?
So I flipped a few pages here and didn't find any threads, so I hope I am not beating a dead horse here, but what prevents the 05 Altima SE-R full exhaust from bolting on to a 02-03 Max? Get a new rear valence, and have a 350Z sound! Is it possible?
I think some people got 3.5 altima headers to work but even that took A LOT of work. Tons of cutting and moving, why bother when you have several companies that make exhaust for out cars?
Cattman or HotShot for the headers, straight pipe or high flow cat (tons of options), Cattman, Frankencar, Greddy or go custom for the catback...

Main reason I ask is I would love to get that 350Z, FX 35 type exhaust note. Seems how I totalled out my 99 Maxima last Friday, I am searching for a 2003 6 speed Max. I thought the Altima SE-R exhaust system might be a close fit to an 03 Max, but I guess I was wrong. Listening to the various sound clips of 02-03 Max exhausts on here, I didn't really hear one with the 350Z, FX 35, or Altima SE-R type exhuast note. The note should be possible since it is the same engine, I hope.
The exhausts are not even close to a match.
On my 02 Max I had a Frankencar. Rather quiet but from outside it actually had a slight sound like my SE-R. If you do headers or no resonator, then you will get closer to the sound.
The SE-R actually sounds quite a bit different from the G or the Z. The exhausts are def. different after about 3000 RPM. After spending a sh!tload oof money on exhausts for the Max (read old posts) I can only say you wont find the G/Z sound and just try to get close to what you would like. If you want loud, then go loud (magnaflow, greddy, headers) if you want more subtle and reserved, yet nice sounding, then look at a frankencar with headers, a very nice sound.

The Frankencar sounds pretty good actually. I just came off of their website and they have some nice clips there. I didn't see a compilation of a 02-03 Max with a complete Cattman exhaust. I know on the VQ30 they sounded great, wondering if anyone had the complete Cattman catback clip.

Get headers and a Frankencar catback, thats the closest you will get to the sound you are looking for without buying a G35 or 350z

I dont think it sounds anything like a G35/350Z... It is WAY more aggressive and much louder.
BTW my old set up was: Berk intake, HotShots and a Cattman Catback.

But if you have a vq30 in your 5th gen...I doubt it will sound like a G35/350z with headers+stock rear...well, maybe somewhat...but a vq35 would sound much closer than a vq30 would....
