for thos looking into brakes

hey i just wanted to show those of you that are looking into getting cross drilled and slotted rotors what mine looked like after a year of use. i know that if you do a search on these you will find a lot of people that say don't buy them because they will crack. well as you can see i didn't listen and i'm now paying the price. i had to get new rotors last week(which wasn't too bad since i have a friend at a parts store, but none the less still cost money). i'll just let the pics speak for themselves. these are both of my front rotors. \

and sorry i forgot the e in those, i wasn't trying to be gangsta

I've heard that if done properly, slotted/crossdrilled will last.

goes to show...even if of "the best quality" a XD/slotted rotor will not be as strong as a blank. Take a look at the people here who put the MOST stress on their brakes here on the org - the road racers and (to lesser extent) autocrossers - almost all of us/them run blanks, not XD or slotted....

sorry you learned the hard way, bro...

typical that when you buy something for looks (which is why people buy XD/slotted rotors, really, be honest)...it is often not as good in terms of performance....

Blake, didn't you get those rotors through Automax_95? If so, he would probably replace those.

Chicago Bears

Anyways Bears do not cover warped rotors.

I had 2 diff brands of rotors in the past, and they all sucked. My powersluts cracked and so did my brembos, and after a race event the rotors where nice dark blue color. I don't even bother with anything high performance anymore, my 21 dollars a piece Napa rotors have lasted me 20K miles so far with no vibrations what so ever- using Hawk Pads. And guess what ? If they warp, tough **** they are only 21 a piece, I think I can afford that.

my 2 piece bear rotors are covered against warpage and cracks for as long as i own them. that was one thing i was glad of becasue they are pricey at $500 for the front.

I will assume the rotors you purchase are from BAER, not BEAR

So people might not make fun of you if you make sure the spell the company name correctly.

i haven't cracked my AP x-drilled and slotted rotors.... yet

however thats with only one session of track use. Most people cook the seals on the pistons before anything happens.

please explain to me how your rotors perform better than blanks. really. I'd like to hear this.

and I am assuming you are NOT using organic brake pads, correct me if I'm wrong - because if you are, it should change your reasoning.

2 piece saves weight. drilled for better cooling and slotted to help the gasses escape. pads are hawk hps pads.

u see.. if it was supposed to be slotted, it should be slotted til the end so gases can escape. i find drilled pointless, and perhaps even harmful since it can trap gases in those holes if it hits the unslotted part in the brake pads.
