hints/questions on changing manual tranny oil
well just changed my gear oil for the first time tonight and i spilled the stuff all over the garage floor. I didnt even try to use the drain plug so i went and used the shift switch that everybody says not to break. Well guess what i did- haha, it just snapped from where it screws in- i was wondering what this white and copper rocker switch was that came out of the hole also, has that happened to anybody? Its got two prongs on the back and plugs into two holes inside the shifter switch, and a copper two position rocker that contacts the other piece, is it bad that mine came out?
Yeah so be careful when pulling that switch out of the hole, make sure you have plenty of towels or rags, the fluid just comes spewing out. Also try not to break that shifter switch, does anybody know the part # so i can get another one? Overall it went pretty well, going to drive it now, filled with Amsoil 75w90 synth.

I accidently broke mine on my old 4th gen....I just stuck it back on and it ran perfectly fine for another 13k miles till I sold it....
and yes I did make quite a mess when I did it for the first time...the oil comes out very quickly....it just caught me off guard

yea i know what ya mean... so the shift indicator or whatever it is wont just pop out and lose all my gear oil all over the highway? If that might be a problem i'l get a new one, otherwise it should be fine.
