Solinoid Valve Assy.

auto tranny, im having slipping problems with my tranny and found that a TSB that tells me to repace the Solinoid valve assembly. where can i find this part? i searched around so please dont get on my butt for not looking hard enough. i posted in the classifieds WTB the part but for some reason i doubt ill get an offer from anyone. looked at sites that sell OEM max parts as well but came up with no luck. i know this is cheaper to do myself rather than bringing it to nissan, so if i can just find the part im all set.

What about getting the specific part number from Nissan, then trying to locate one with the part number itself? The TSB doesn't list the parts needed?

It says to first solder the grounding connection where the wire meets the grounding connector. I think that if that doesn't work then replace. I'm sure the first is the easiest and cheapest.

Tough to explain without a picture. Your VB solenoids are grounded to the tranny via a grounding wire. The TSB states that sometimes that the grounding wire connection is loose. The fix is to solder it. If you can look at the TSB, it explaines it better.

would this part work for a 2000? since i see yours is 02/03, so the part is as well. or does it not make a difference? and you said 'solenoid pack', im assuming thats the part im talking about (solinoid valve assy?). if it all works out i may be very interested in the one with 7 miles since its brand new.

If you take a look at the top solenoid, they are talking about soldering the crimp in the location where the red wire makes contact with the grounding bolt. This ensures a better ground.

I guess I will be the first to ask the obvious question...

How old is your tranny fluid?

Mine started to slip again and it is due for a change. Your best bet is to have Nissan swap the fluid if it old because you need to suck out all the old fluid. Or if you dont want to drop the money on that there is a how-to on it.

How old is it? and how long has it been slipping? A slipping tranny can cook your tranny fluid pretty quick. In one month when my tranny started to slip, my fluid whent from fine and looking nomal --> burnt as hell and toast.

I would look into your TCM, thats what was causing the slipping in my 2000 auto.

Once my TCM was fixed and new fluid put it, it was perfect. Till now, but it needs new fluid, its time....

Pointer to the TSB (though not of good quality PDF file).

http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB00-039a.pdf

whazzzzuup : Can step 7 be skipped to replace the soleniod valve assembly? Reading thro the TSB the assembly itself is held (5 solenoids) with bolts, is there a necessity to remove the entire assembly as seen in your picture. Or it is a big

You can take the solenoid packs off without removing the VB, but I strongly recommend against it. It is faster if you just take the VB out and remove the SP afterwards. Manuvering the wrench within that confined space is difficult.
