Passenger side window goes down VERY slowly at the bottom, what to check?
My windows were doing this before I got my window tint, so I doubt this has anything to do with it.
Anyways, my passenger side window starts off going down just as fast as any other, but as it reaches like 3-4" above the bottom of the window, it slows down tremendously, and feels as if it puts a large load on the engine, etc. Rolling the window up is the same way - it seems to be freed about 4" from the bottom.
I know there was a link in the audio forums how to take the door panel off, but the link and pictures are gone by now. So, how do you take off the door panels, specifically in the front doors?
And what do I have to check to see what is holding the window back? What can be broken, not working right?
Thanks.

window goes down slowly
I had the same problem at least going up. Sounds like its time to replace the motor. You can get the entire track and motor assembly on Ebay for around $50. Mine works like a charm now. The door panel is not too diffucult to take off. Several screws under the arm rest need to be removed and you pull the panel away. Chilton's repair manuals can show you all the screw points.

yea, the haynes manual shows you how.
1. Take the little cover out of the cup holder like thing in the door panel
2. Remove screw from under cover
3. Remove window switch and disconnect it (press in clips)
4. Remove door bezzel (piece by door handle) pops out
5. Remove 2? screws from bottom of panel ( by the bottom of door)
6. Unclip door panel(try prying slowly with flat screwdriver)
It is relatively easy to do, read the manual before hand though incase I missed anything. And when your working on the window, becareful not to rip the plastic shield thing. The haynes manual explains it all.
My drivers side is the same way...it gets even worse in cold weather...I think its just how old and how much wear on the motor...but than again it really isnt that big of a deal to me.

), my other friend who was riding shotgun started putting my window down since they couldn't see in my tint, and noticed it. It was even more noticable when it started going back up...
Lol!!! I have the same damn promblem with my driver side window..junks embarrassing- one time I was gonna holla at a girl n my window went down slow had 2 use my hand..guess nissan never expected people to change the speakers:-)
I agree with Tim...I used to work at a Nissan Dealership and more often than not it was a bad regulator and not a bad motor. The 5th gen had some problems with regulators but the 4th gens were pretty good. Cheapest way to do it is try some silicone and it will probably solve your problem.
Good Luck

When I have the door panel off, will I be able to tell how the window is getting stuck by looking at it?
Every time I came across a car with slow windows, the fix it always silicone spray, not on the track but on the the rubber/felt that the window goes into around the edges of the window. As they age they lose thier moisture and the window doesnt slide on it properly. The silcone spray will relube it and it will work like new.
