Heated Seat not working

Hey guys... I tried googling the problem but it did not answer my questions. I have a 99 Max ES with cloth heated seats. The passenger side works but the driver side does not Now I know there is a 10 Amp fuse but I havent checked it because I figure if the passenger side works, then there shouldnt be a problem. Unless each seat has its own fuse which I'm unaware of. I have also checked all the connectors under the seat and everything seems fine. Where do I go from here?

Yes, my light works as well. Do you know if one fuse controls both chairs or if they're both controlled by the single 10 Amp one. Also which connector under the chair is the one for the heated seat. I want to check the voltage.

I have same problem. But my driver side works, and the passenger side does, not. I have checked all connections, and everything is good. The lights on the switch all work, but the passenger seat is always cold.

well, im gonna have to find out what connectors are for the heater. I dont want to mess around with stuff that might be for the side air bags. I think the first thing I should check is to see if there is power by using a multimeter. After that I'm lost. If anyone one know which connector is for the heated seat please chime in.

To find the heated seat one I just unplugged one at a time to see what function it had. I believe it is the middle plug if I remeber right but they are easy to unplug and check. One plug is foward/back/, up/down tilt, and one is heated seat. They are tight plugs but if you press then pull they should come right out, there is a spot on the plug to press the clip for the release similar to the heated seat switches plugs.

how hard is it to actually pull the seat covers off and inspect the heater elements? I have searched around and found out that the heater elements lie between the padding and the seat cover. If i can get the cover off, then i can use a multimeter to do some continuity tests to see if the elements are broken anywhere.

I have taken the whole seat apart before not that hard. The wires for the back heater come out the bottom you can see them. Same with the butt heater wires come out the back. The heater is just a piece of felt with five or six rows of coils inside with two or three wires coming out. A1 auto sells carbon fiber heaters for around $100 for the maxima, and they are probably alot better in terms of heat up time and output. The leather does not need to be taken off to take out heaters out of the seat. You will have to open the back flap that goes under the back rest and under the seat w/hog rings. For the backrest just take the back off then you can slide it out from the bottom. Just stick you hand under the heater and slowly move it around to gently pull it out same with backrest. You might be able to get the backrest heater out without taking it off but it is not hard to take off.

Ok if i will dig in to the seat can i just take heater elements from the passanger side and switch them on driver side are they interchangable
i dont really care about passanger side cause i'm driving along most of the time.
May be i should move the steering wheel on the right side LOL

Neither did I till I bought my max. It gets real cold around here (Toronto) and my heated seats spoiled me. I was doing fine every other winter in my cavalier where the heater barely worked lol and i didnt have the luxury of heated seats.
Anyway, i checked out ebay and i found some heater elements going for roughly 100 bucks. Is it safe to grab these if I cant fix mine?

Are they the cardon fiber from A1 auto? They are a good company, I have purchased through them before.

Thread Raise from the dead!

Well my drivers side seat stopped working. Of course once it got to 27 degrees' Anyhow I popped out the switch (screw driver underneath pride up gently) check for resistance with my meter, yep switch is bad. Btw... Driverside back was blue, passenger side black and they aren't interchangeable. They are different sizes.

Anyhow took the switch inside and pride it apart. Inside looked clean but the bulb was blown. That's weird. Swapped out the bulb with Radioshack micro lamp #7219 272-1092 popped it back together and now the seat lights up like normal. Now does it work? I'll find out tomorrow but my meter now responses just like the passenger side. Odd but it looks to me like the electrical goes through the bulb. Dead bulb = seat doesn't work.
