I mean, seriously...it seems like everything i try to do, something gets stuck...when i installed my springs/struts, ONE bolt kept me from doing the last corner and after spending literally 7 hours and $50 trying to get that bolt off, i finally took it into the shop to have them loosen it....

Now I'm TRYING to install my rear wheel spacers...i'm using this write up:

And i cannot for the life of me get the top part of the caliper off....i have been going at it now for an hour....i removed the two bolts like it said in the write up, and let me tell you, it is NOT coming off 'with ease'!!
I think this picture of my brand new rubber mallet will explain just how on there this thing is...

Do ya'll have any suggestions? i've soaked it in WD-40 and let it rest for 15 minutes to no avail...both sides are like this and I really want to get these on!! haha, i couldn't even tell myself to wait until this weekend when i'm going to be installing my LTB and RSB

 

Get a gym membership...

Or a breaker bar, or a pipe that goes around your wrench, or a compressor and air tools.

Edit: F*ck the rubber mallet man, get a hammer and get that bolt off.

 

It's not a bolt...it's the actual top half of the caliper....if it WERE a bolt i probably would have used my breaker bar by now! lol

EDIT: and i don't think i want to take a metal hammer to my caliper....

 

Ohh I see, screw driver to the inside edge and hammer to back it off them (thats what I did and there was no caliper damage). There is not a problem that a hammer cannot fix.

 

yikes...i'm afraid that would damage my pads and/or the thin metal clip that holds them on...where did you wedge the screwdriver? in between the actual brake pad and the caliper?

But I put the screw driver in the part in the red and hammered it back. Never touched the pad or the clip.

 

did you try to take the brake line (hose) off and push that piston back with a c clamp?

 

Is your e-brake on? The same thing happened to me and releasing the e-brake made it so much easier to hammer off.

 

alright, thanks to upstate, i got it off, and the spacers are installed! My parking brake was, indeed, off...i usually put my car in 1st and take my parking brake off when i lift the rear end...pics are uploading, so i'll get them up shortly...

 

oh, and to get it off, i used a screwdriver (although it didn't have an end on it...it was one of those that were interchangable, so it didn't come to a point...) and hammered at the point where upstate said to...it took a while and i left a couple grooves in the freaking caliper from hitting it so hard ( ) but i got it in the end, so thanks for that!

what spacers did you get? and what drop is that? it looks really good. to bad you had to put a few grooves in the caliper but it looks like it paid off

 

i got th H&R 20mm spacers and i'm dropped on illuminas and h-techs
