Video: Maxima vs Skyline, Mitsu 3000GT, Type R Integra & More
Just got back from a nice day of racing. I had hoped to do much better but the track was rained on the day before, and most of the day, but had dryed off that night. Plus no vht or track prep. So I made a long 6 hour drive, did well in racing but again same old same old.
I also raced my first Nissan Skyline, which was a rb25det power machine. The video is a fat one so DSL/Cable users will make small work of it, if your 56k might want to pass on this one.
The Races
Max vs Honda Integra Type R ( 2 races )
Max vs Nissan Skyline GTS-T
Max vs Mitsubishi 3000 GT TT
Max vs 12.9 sec Honda Civic (Semi Final Round All Motor)

But the 3KGT at least should have taken you. That idiot didn't launch.

I went expecting some 13.8's and maybe a 13.7 but all the track locals up there said 60's were all high and track was horrible. I guess that explains it though, you knock a .2 off the 60 and i should have been in the high 13's.The track I snagged the 1.97 60 foot has a NHRA correction factor of .18, fom experience I say -.2 and -2/-3 mph. Out of the 3 tracks I have raced here in NZ. I have trapped 99.5 on 2 tracks and the track i got the 1.9 60 foot I can never trap above 96 mph, which meant on that 1.9 60 foot with the new tires i was robbed again ! LOL ! got a 14.0@96mph.
60 foots: (5) 2.1's
edit: j on the videos, the scoreboard is showing the 60 foots if you look during practice. the night races were it has 10.9 is just a break out number for the all motor class. you run lower than 10.9 you get booted !

If you are simply pushing the clutch in and letting it out as quickly as possible you may be losing time on the gear changes. I noticed the car was bucking when you shifted, you are losing power that way. Ever notice that if you do the same thing but going slower that the car kinda jerks and loses its momentum and has to kind of get back into the groove? On smooth shifts you will notice that there isnt as big of a torque drop. Try working on smooth shifts I think it will help a little bit.
How high are you revving before you "dump" the clutch. Riding the clutch a little bit instead of just dumping it may help you in the start, too.
This is just some stuff I heard people mention to me before so if Im off dont start flaming.
I baby my car so not too much hands on experience on pushing her to the limit.
Awesome kills Ceaser! Good launch took out those cars that would have beaten you otherwise.
Also, here's what I have read from a Subaru site:
The first rule of gear change is to learn to wait on the machinery.
The second rule is to let the synchros work, push, do not force into gear, See rule #1.
The third rule is to let the clutch get all the way home before gassing the throttle. See rule #1. This does not take all that long, but there are some tricks to smooth gear changes.
Rule number four: It is just like learning the piano, first get the technique right and then go for speed. See rule #1.
Rule five is that 1-2 gear changes are a bitch, 4-5 make you look like Walter Röhl every time.
This 1-2 shift always has the greatest percentage difference in the speeds of the moving parts. Brian's observation was spot on for this reason. First gear in a US model is 45% slower than second gear while 3-4 difference is usually only 27%. What is a lousy 17% greater initial shaft speed to a gear change? It is 40% more kinetic energy to absorb. This is the rule of squares from the k=mv2 of high school physics class, in action. The second gear synchro works much harder for its dinner than does its fourth gear cousin. It also simply takes longer for everything to slow down to the new 2nd gear speed from first than it does for the 4th gear from third. It is also why down shifting to first is tricky. See rule number one.
That 1st to 2nd gear comparison is for the Subaru. I'm not sure how it us for our Maximas.
