Anyone think i payed too much?

95 maxima gle 171k miles, 15 inch (american racing) wheels. The car runs good has remote start, spoiler and the paint is very exceptional. Service engine light came on and it needs the following:
1)front right 02 sensor
2)the infamous Knock sensor

I paid $3000 for it.

comment on 2 thing's: The price and should i replace these sensors?

$3000 is not a high price or a low price for a max. Its an average price for a higher mileage car. As for your codes, yes i would replace them. Both sensors are under 100$ each. There might also be more problems with that car just mainly due to mileage. I would say you didn't spend too much or too little on the car. Just an AVERAGE buy.

replace o2 sensor first, reset ecu and recheck ~250miles later to see if the KS code is there.

$3k isnt that bad of a price.

LOL, you bought it from a dealer didn't you. I've sold cars at 5 dealerships and that (little old lady) line is a classic. Sounds lika a great deal either way.

i paid $8,000 tax, title and all the other goodies for my 98 GLE. Every option that a GLE can ever have. minus spoiler and fogs. But then again i got mines with 63k miles.

I bought mines from a caddy dealership. I have no problem in saying it. Actually i met the old owner. He was there when i test drove his car for an oil change. He bought a new sedan and with 5k on it he had a problem with the car and he told me how he never had a problem with the car. Just took it at the nissan dealer down the road every 5k uptill 60k.

i bought mine for 4,500 with 128K miles from an dealership, an old lady was the original and only owner till i came along. i just wish it was an automatic and an SE, but now that ive put some money into it, its a hell of a lot better.

i paid 3400 for my 96 gle with 103k. Previous owner changed everything like the usually sensors. Had all maintainace records too. Only things i had to buy was 4 new tires and a battery.

i kinda think 3000 for 171 is abit too much but aint overboard.

well heres the pic i commonly use because its absolutely identical to my car right down to the environment, clears except I have a little more done more done that that (ie. glass lights and PIAA's), paint everything, exact duplicate. I gotta give credit to the max owner who has the car in the pic.

I'll try to get some of mine soon just for future reference.

Same question here. The fact that you stumbled across a manual, and feel like you missed out on something... sad.

I feel good seeing what ya'll are paying. I've been on this site for about a month and a half. I'm currently looking for a black on black 96-98 and have seen some at wholesale auctions, but not exactly what I wanted. I'm looking to pay around $3300-$4500, keeping miles in mind. It looks like I'm after a great car and that prices are reasonable.

I paid about $5000 for my 96 GLE which has 57K miles on the odo, but since the odo is stuck on 9's no idea how many miles it really has. It was driven by a little old lady . . . . . . . . from Pasadena! Go granny go granny go go go . . . . isn't that how the Beach Boys put it? I've spent about $1000 so far on fixing the oil leaks and so on. Don't change the oxy sensor until you finish maintenance! My car also had a bad oxy sensor supposedly, but after changing the 9 year old air filter it fixed itself. Probably sooted up.

I sold my black 95 SE with 192,000 miles on it in September 05 for $4000. It ran fantastic, and it looked beautiful, mint condiditon. I also just but brand new tires and ceramic fron pads and rotors on it. Here is a pic of it from that august.

and the rest of the pics at webshots

I got a 1996 I30t every option except cd changer ( it was there) for $2000 two years ago with 120K from my old boss. He has four or five others and a 98 maxima that I know about he buys and sells and get them CHEAP they are a dime a dozen at almost any auction. I couldn't believe how badly people get ripped off buying at dealers before seeing the auction prices.

Mine has a "BIG" dent on the drivers side, but it can be fixed, it has 160K highway miles, SE, leather, a/c, sunroof, new tires, I don't like the gold color but the best was the price! I got it for $400 bucks clean title.

Agreed the rest of you may be morons... but the title of my max was in the name of this guys mom and we had an ordeal cause she died and the license bureau didnt have record of it yet so we had to have the papers sent over. So my car def. actually was an old lady's lol. Plus it had the sunrise retirement resort sticker on it lmao. ( retirement resort is right! you should've seen this place where we picked it up from). anyways just to clear that up...
