AFT fluid leak

Alright, so on the 5th of March I score a bottle of Sea Foam motor treatment and give it a run. Followed the directions (both on bottle and from the dot org) everything went fine.

Then kicks in my stupid if its still working FINE, why not add a little sea foam (per directions on bottle) to crankcase (oil). So I pour a dash into my engine from the cap on top of the engine. Off I go.

Monday the 6th, in the morning to work while I'm waiting in line on the toll road, my maxima is smoking like I'm some freaking magician going to pull out turbo piping from my trunk. Crap.

So finally, after this is consistently happening, and after confirming YES I have an automatic transmission fluid leak, I bring it to a shop to take a look at the under-body. Possible blown o-ring seal on the torque converter. I have some pretty bad pictures quality wise, but you can see red "dots" which are pools of fluid.

Has this even remotely happened to anyone? Sea Foam or not. Also, how likely is this going to be fixed with just a tear down and replace all internal seals in the trans???

Thank you in advance! PS: I am still forced to drive as is.. I know its bad.

Am I to infer that you are blaming SeaFoam for your car's troubles? SeaFoam >>>>> GOD!!

I can't believe you actually think Sea Foam created this problem when the most viable solution is to add more Sea Foam, specifically to your tranny fluid.

To really find out what the problem is you will want to pull your back seats and look for the EGR valve.

Once you find it, let us know how it looks.

Hay a$$hole, if you're going to give advice, at least make sure it's complete.

RR5, soak the EGR in Sea Foam for 48 hrs. before reinstalling. Just don't get any on the seating surface during the process.

Wow, don't go off the deep end. I just forgot that step, and you did not remember that it is a good idea to remove the rear doors when taking out the back seats either!

1. remove the tranny and engine
2. soak both in seafoam for 2 weeks
3. (most important) replace the seal that let the seafoam go from your engine to your tranny in the 1st place
4. put everything back together

ps. now can we please stop with the seafoam threads

Don't forget that after you have finished all the aforementioned steps to take your hood off and go through a touchless car wash FTW!

Please keep posts on-topic.

Ok now that we have been collectively lowered to a 4th grade education level, I will restate my problem. This is what I do not understand. Perhaps it was the seals time to die and it did so right after I added the sea foam. Yes I know sea foam works wonders on the engine internals, I feel a nice difference everytime I accelerate.

I have had 0 transmission problems or leaks. In short no transmission problems. 24 hours later after pouring in a little sea foam into my crankcase, I blow a seal internally and cause transmission fluid to seep out. WHAT THE HELL?

From what I've heard, NO when it comes to Seafoam. You have a tranny problem. Why don't you get a quote? Your title is misleading from this point on. I know it's hard to take this but it must be purely coincidental.

It's one hell of a coincidence, but I have to agree the Seafoam did not mess up your tranny.

Everyone should know now when something changes on your car, the first thing you are supposed to do is go over anything you changed on the car.

IE: Added an ADDITIVE, changed some setting, switched fuel, switched motor oil and blah blah.

I was only stating what I did to the car, then what happened.

I can actually form more than one coherent sentence. If you donate you will find much more superior sentence structure in OT.

Wow.. I have never read anything this interesting.. come on people.. he had a question and you guys are taking his questiont o the other level. why insulting each other instead of trying to find or give an idea of what the problem might be. Seafoam won't do any harm in the engine and won't make your tranny leak if you pour it in the engine.. it is just comon sense...... To all
