Has anyone ever done the "Alarm Beep" mod??

If so I was wondering how to install the Relay. The relay that VQPower said to get looks like it is supposed to go into a circuit board of some sort with 5 prongs sticking out. How do I connect the wires from the buzzer and the existing car wires to it?? I have a soldering gun but it still seems like there is an easier or more "clean" way to hook this up. Any help would be appreciated.

BTW-here is the site I am referencing and the instructions.

I didn't have to use a relay, just spliced pos to pos, neg to neg with the buzzer. I couldn't figure out how to use the relay, and was told to just skip it.

i have one of the louder radio shack buzzers, it sounds like a vw or similar beep. its a nice tone. you just need to connect it to the bcm wire (ground) and find a hot 12v+ wire in the same area. i also mounted mine under the bumper.

Yeah I did mine today and it didn't work for me. When I plugged everything in like the VQ site said, the buzzer would just keep going off. When I tried to change the wires the buzzer just kept going off without being plugged into anything but the orange wire (orange wire is supposed to be ground?!). The only way I got it to work right was to connect to the wires the VQ site says not too lol (orange and green/yellow wires).
Since Jsutter and BigLou did it different I'd follow them.

Would either one of you guys be willing to explain how you did yours?

OK, I finally got it to work using the VQ site. I had the same issue as Cdg2125 but realized I connected the buzzer to the "always closed" terminal on the relay...which is why the buzzer was constantly on when I plugged the fuse in. Once I did a search on circuit lingo, I realized that a "closed" circuit means "ON" and an open one means "OFF"...so I switched it up and now it works fine. I just had to go to AutoZone and get some liquid brush on electrical tape to put over the relay and connections...which was my main question to begin with. I tried soldering but either I suck at soldering or the soldering gun I bought sucks...probably a little bit of both. Anyway, I will post a picture if you want...although it will probably look very similar to the VQ site.

Better but you didn't explain which terminals on the relay were which. So it's not helpful until you explain lol. But that was my question too. The relay he said to buy had five terminals and he only drew four. He also didn't show which way the relay was facing so everything could be switched... Someone help!! lol

Well, now that I put it back in it doesn't work dammit! I'm really frustrated now...all that work and nothing. It worked yesterday but now it doesnt...I think I maybe damaged the relay when I was trying to solder it.

Anyway, I used the diagram on the back of the relay package to determine which terminals to use. I can draw something up if you threw away the package already. I'm curious to see what the others did though now since it doesn't work for me. What a waste of time! Oh well, I may try again next weekend....cuz now there is just a bunch of extra crap in my trunk.

On a side note, I did get my XM antenna installed...I will have pics of that whole install process next week.

if you don't need the relay, why would they even include it? seems kinda stupid to include something that is a) a pain and b) not necessary. i'm gonna try this soon, just need to get around to it. i'm gonna buy a louder buzzer too, i got the one they recommend on vqpower writeup, and i've heard it's not nearly loud enough. either way, i'll post back whenever i get around to trying it!

Orange wire to black and red wire to green/orange wire. It's gotta be a blinker wire cause that's when the buzzer goes off. I've been told no green/yellow or green/black.

Yeah I started the other thread as a different option for the alarm beep (using the horn instead). There's some info in there as well.
I'd say just do the radioshack buzzer. Cheap and easy to install. It's quality enough for what the mod is.

there's higher dB buzzers @ radio shack too. you don't have to use the one they suggest on vqpower.

you can't hook it up to a blinker and ground, otherwise your buzzer will sound wen you use your hazzards and the specefic blinker u used, i know that from experience

I tired to put on 2 buzzers, 1 at the front & 1 at the back of the car so I can hear it better. But they do not sound together, and even though they were the same model, they had different piches.

You guys did it wrong then. You must have spliced into the wrong wire. I did it today and everything was fine. Checked it with the emergency flashers, blinkers and nothing. Only when I lock the car. Check your work. It should be fine.

the orange wire is not a blinker wire, It is connected to your alarm system ans has control over your blinker lights. Totally seperate from the turning system.
