A new thud? How exciting!

The other day i noticed a thud (or pop) comming from my drivers side front when the suspension compressed; usually during a bumpy turn turn but straight as well when I go over train tracks. It's not the CV and I doubt it's the strut (both are 8 mo old and neither show symptoms) and i've checked all the bolts. I'm thinking the shock mount or control-arm (bushing) as neither have been changed. A search on the .org pulled up mostly CV discussions, anyone have ideas or a method to check if it's one particular part? I've tried, but can't re-create the sound by bouncing the front end while parked.

I was almost certain it was a CV joint causing the trouble in mine a few months ago. Whaddaya know, it was a blown strut mixed in with a worn BJ.

A blown strut mixed with a worn BJ. I saw that film, it was excellent.

After doing some reading on 4dsc and a few other places I'm pretty sure it's the BJ, I jacked up the car and gave the tire a good tug, it moved quite a bit. Now the question is go with Moog or just generic? I'm tinking of doing the whole control arm and bushing since internetautomart has a great deal on the package including BJ, though I'm not sure if it's necessary.

I'd do the whole arm if you can afford it because then you don't have to worry about the bushings for a long time.
