Thanks!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the years of help you have provided me with the maxima. Unfortunately yesterday it was totalled.

Hope you're OK and insurance takes care of you. Now on to parting it out:

Was it a manual? How many miles? Is the engine OK? Let me know because I'm interested in buying the engine, tranny, ECU and other parts. If it goes to a junkyard, let me know which one and I'll get my inside guy to buy the parts for me. This way, I can tear down my oil-burner and find out why it's burning oil so bad so I can let everyone know. We'll give your car a purpose in it's life! Consider it an effigy as it'll be used to test the limits of boost on a stock engine while mine is built up to take more power.

The engine appeared to be ok. I was able to go this afternoon and grab my Momo shifter, Stillen FSTB, Berk Intake, all my audio equiptment and the rest of my belongings. I still have the original shocks and struts. They only have 7kmiles on them. I also have the original Y pipe and B pipe. Lastly I have a FrankenCar intake.

Luckily, no one was hurt. I haven't been given a firm quote for my car, but my insurance company said it should be somewhere in the $17,000 range which is much more than I thought. Now the quest for a new car.

If everything goes ok, I will be the proud owner of an Altima SE-R tomorrow. The Maxima was just more than what I wanted to spend. We just put 40k into finishing out basement. I'm stretching it with the SE-R. My mortgage is going to be around 3800k a month now.

I bet you'll be foaming at the mouth to get that SE-R modded after your stint with the Max...

Na. I have too many other things that are more important to me. Home theater is a huge thing for me. I still need to finish that room in the basement, but it will probably take just as much to finish that room as it did the entire basement. I'm kinda not interested in the car stuff anymore. Kids, wife and a huge mortgage will do it to ya every time. The warm weather is coming so nature could of course take over

Well... I think the wheels on the SE-R are TERRIBLE. You should just give them to me, and you can have my wheels on the max.

I am so glad that I have a little boy. He's 2 and I get to play cars with him all the time. Brings back memories of the good old days. He is so into cars it's not funny. I guess I'm gonna have to learn about the NASCAR crap

Before the accident I was just about to pull the trigger on a new JVC HD-ILA 61" Pro Version TV. Almost 5k. Now I'm going to have to wait.

Like a dummy I forgot to take my camera when I uninstalled all the stereo and aftermarket parts. The guy at the lot said that he has to take pics anyway and said that he would email them to me.

You all would be disappointed in me. Good Virus beat up bad Virus. I was all set to get the Altima fully loaded except Navi. I called Sterling Nissan and they gave me an incredible price of just north of 25k. I thought about it and ended up buying a Civic EX Sedan and paid cash for it. I needed something with great gas mileage and something smaller than the Max for my work parking lot. My Max was getting quite a few dings over the years. I figured the Civic would last 10 years and this would allow me to purchase my midlife crisis car several years early (I just turned 35). Maybe a Skyline in 2 years?

So it never ends? I'm 19, and my girlfriend says I need to stop spending money on the car too. You should see how much she spends on clothes...

Don't you love it when your significant other complains that they have no clothes or shoes and you go into your huge walk in closet and you have just a small area and they have the whole thing filled with their stuff. Guys generally have enough clothes to last a week or slightly more. My wife has enough clothes that she could go months without wearing the same outfit. Insurance is only giving me $16k for the car instead of the original 17k they quoted. Sucks.

Seriously what is with that crap. Mine has so many purses and still can't find one she likes. Then why does she buy them if she doesn't like them I ask?!

Anyhoo, 16k is still pretty good. And I hope you're putting away some money for that Skyline otherwise you'll be stuck with that civic for longer than any of us would like.

On to better things Virus!

Check out an Audi A4 6-speed, my friend has an 04 and its soo smooth and powerful, his is chipped though.

My favorite is when my gf decides that instead of spending money on the car, I need new clothes

Which one? I have both. I have 2 Apexi filters. The one that was on the car still looks in good condition, but the filter is slightly dented. It has about 10k on it. The other one ran it's course. It could be vacuumed. I also have a K&N that originally came with the Berk. I have 2 MAF adapters. 1 for the Apexi and 1 for the K&N. I only have 1 set of couplers. PM me to make an offer. I'm willing to sell it reasonably cheap. The midpipes are in great condition. I have all 4 screws for the MAF adapter, but 2 nuts are missing. (kinda like after I bought the civic. They took mine away)

Both intakes were made for 2002-2003 VQ35 right?

Yes. Both are for 2k2 and 2k3 Maximas. I ordered a Berk intake. At the time Berk didn't make a midpipe, only FrankenCar did. Berk came out with the midpipe and I ordered one. Brian took everyones money but then closed up shop for whatever reason. I finally was able to get my money back and then purchased the Frankencar intake. Brian from Berk sent me a new midpipe for free for the inconvenience and started his business back up again. Berks midpipe looks alot better than Frankencars in my opinion. Both are the same design, but use different materials. Berks welding is also alot better and it's much lighter. With the Frankencar you will need to design a brace. I tried like crazy to get another brace from them, but their customer service is horrible. The Berk doesn't really need a brace because it's so light. I can send you pics if you would like.
