Went to the track for the 1st time with Headers

Went to the track for the 1st time with Headers

And the homos cancelled it because it wasn't above 48 degrees. I was SO ready to see what it could do. Although it is idling rough and not in top form.
Plus I can't get a bit of traction from a stop with the headers on now. It spins like mad. I think that is going to cause me some real trouble next week at the track.

That sucks. My local track will cancel it if there is rain 100 miles away!

But seriously, they will cancel the event if there is a CHANCE that the temp will drop below 45 degrees during the event.

I have raced in 35 degree weather along with cars that put down more than 1000hp and they hook up just fine if the track prep is up to par. But the thing is, the track prep gets a lot harder to maintain when the track never heats up. So it's a safety issue with most small town tracks. They don't have the want or resources to maintain the track throughout the day or night.

It's not a local track, Gateway Raceway. They hold NHRA there all the time.

Hey mate bad news about the cancellation. What's the difference between yours and the 1st-generation Cattman header-extractors? Any chance of pictures?

thats pretty weak. at my track (infineon) they dont care what the temp is i would guess since its been near freezing when i raced. they also dont care that much about rain. we got a sprinkle one time so they stopped racing for a half hour then started again. good luck for next week.

well theres always a risk of not being able to race. my main concern around here is usually rain. it seems its always raining around race day or a chance of rain. win some lose some ya know. run it hard when you hit the track next and you will forget all about this jazz

I go to Gateway International Raceway in Illinois. They have open nights on Tuesdays.

That sucks man. I was over at Gateway Wednesday night for slicks/motocycles night and it was pretty f-in cold but they kept the track open. Next week you should be good to go temp wise. Good luck.

I wouldnt worry too much about spinning like you do on the street. 1\4 mi tracks have sticky'er (if thats a word) road. If you go after a couple of fast cars its good, cuz they leave some heated rubber and that also helps grip. I always under power my first couple launches cuz Im not used to it, but with more grip = more wheel hop. good luck!
