All Motor VE Auto goes 13.79 @ 100.3mph!!!

I am so excited! I had a great night at the drag strip. It was the first time I raced since I ran my 14.30 in South Florida in crappy weather on a crappy track. Now I'm in Eastern NC with decent weather and a decent track.

Conditions:

Temp: 55*F
Baro: 30.33
Hum: 36%
Air Density: -601 feet
Slicks: 25 psi

On this particular run, I raced a 2006 Monte Carlo SS. He was running high 13s all night long. So I lined up against him to try my luck after I was running 13.8s all night long. I ran 13.79 to his 13.96. He got a jump on me b/c of his redline RT, but I instantly pulled a car length on him in the 60' and we stayed even the entire way down the track. We didn't pull on each at all. It was a very fun race.

No I didn't, sorry. I wish I could have. It was a great race too. I was too busy trying to run 13s. Plus, I didn't have anybody with a camera decent enough to record it.

We'll make an even trade. I'll take your 6th Gen, and you can take my 3rd Gen and keep your car payment. Deal?

Good job Aaron! Thats just a little bit faster than what I ran on 6psi. Goes to show what weight reduction and slicks will do for ya.

Chevy hasn't made a worthwhile Monte Carlo since the late 80's anyway. Good job! Way to represent!

I ran 22" MT slicks on 15x6 11lb Millenia wheels.

I ran my friend's 2006 Frontier 6spd (w/ ghetto intake) with the VQ40DE which ran an impressive 14.7! He even beat a Mustang 4.6L.

I didn't get any other awesome kills. I whooped a late 80s Civic HB running high 14s with a b16 swap several times.

And after I ran several 13.8s all night, I asked a Mustang GT that was running high 13s to see if he would run against me and he refused! He said he didn't want to get embarrased by an old Nissan. It was pretty funny.

Also, an SRT4 saw what I was doing and he completely backed out of a raced against me. He was only running high 14s that night! He seriously could NOT drive that thing!

And an s13 was racing and I heard the BOV. I didn't know what to think until I saw him running VERY consistant 12.7s. I'm sure he had a tuned SR swap. I never got a chance to talk to him though.

The rest of my runs were solo runs.

I haven't gotten the Zemulator to work yet. I wish I still wasn't running the stock ECU. But, I am getting VERY close from being able to tune my VE ECU! I might be able to make another track visit NA before I really up the HP.

We will probably be planning a meet in Fayetteville very soon. It's a very fast track and some Charlotte guys might come out. Stay tuned to the local Wash DC forum for more details.

I take it that you had your tranny built already?? Where were you having it built at because I may do that to mine instead of going through the 5 speed swap?? One last question......When are you gonna throw in that turbo and be a good contender for 11's. Anyways good job. I remember when you had that electronic exhaust cutout running close to 15's. Could you imagine doin 13's back then?? Congrats again man.

Nope... I'm running the original tranny still. WHEN my tranny pops, I chose Rob at NRH.

As for the turbo, I am collecting parts right now. I imagine I will be getting parts for quite some time now. Money is an issue.

I've had that exhaust cutout for a while now. It's still working great, even in the 13s!

I'm guessin that the TQ converter is playing a huge part in keepin you tranny in one peice still. Most third gen trannies would have been exploded after a series of runs like that back to back. My VG trans tq converter basically exploded on me twice (causing me to buy two seperate trannies). They may be the real weak link in the third gen auto's other than heat but you got that covered also.

They are really only a weak link in the VG30E Maxima. In the VE Maxima, we get a completely different tranny. And it's been holding up great for me. All I did was quicken the shifts and keep the tranny temps under control.

I really doubt the TC has anything to do with keeping my tranny in one piece. In fact, this higher stall builds up a little more heat than the stock unit. But the slippage doesn't hurt my gas mileage by a noticable degree.

I don't know. All I know is that I bought my car at 98K miles and I've ragged it out ever since. I've made well over 300 1/4 mile passes with this car.

I always keep my ATF in perfect condition and I never let it get above 150 degrees. I rarely ever gets above 120 on aggresive driving. Other than me having a VB mod, that's all I've done to prevent the tranny from blowing. And I like to think my driving method has a lot to do with the tranny still holding together. I am very nice to it other than the fact that it sees redline shifts all the time. I've ridden with a lot of people that have no idea how to treat a tranny. Letting off suddenly before the tranny has time to make the shift, which will follow with a rough shift. And I constantly see people shifting from R to D or vice versa, while still rolling. And I even see people do neutral drops.

I have not thought about doing a 5spd swap. I'm planning to stick with my automatic and once it pops, build it up for more power. I like having a very consistant 1/4 mile car. Since I don't have any plans to road race it, I will stick with the automatic.

i always did the same as you, alot of redline shifting, and not letting off, so it will shift smoother.... the ATF was brand new also.... it only has 72 k on it when it let loose...... but i took it all apart, and couldnt find a SINGLE peice of metal or a SINGLE gear stripped...... so i think my torque converter died... what do you think??

Just watch out for the next gen of Monte Carlos and Impalas they are going back to RWD. So the SS versions will actually be worth something.
