want a 12 second maxima the easy way?
I don't think anybody has brought this up yet... but a 02' maxima with a SC adapted to it (should be easy) should put down well over 300 WHP and run a 12sec 1/4. You guys think this is possible?
If the '02 has 260 CRANK hp, and the S/C adds 80hp, the total is 340. Given its a 5spd, parasitic loss is about 25% or 85hp, giving you only 255 at the wheels.
Its possible, but not with that kinda hp. 290hp at the wheels (in an auto) is 390hp CRANK hp.
HP alone (at those levels) are not enough to get those kinda times, but you're on the right track

All are manual transmission
`02 Maxima = 260hp crank
`00 Maxima = 222hp crank (180fwhp?)
`00 Maxima + SC + mods = 300fwhp?
`02 Maxima + SC + speculation = 270fwhp?
I don't think so...
`02 Maxima + SC + mods + speculation = 330fwhp?
Maybe, but I seriously doubt it without traction...
6-speed losses should be similar to 5-speed losses unless Nissan has a radically more efficient 6-speed design.

yeah, like a serious diet...our 3400-ish pound cars (loaded w/ driver, ect) need to lose a lot or gain 2 turbos ala the 300zx to be serious reliable 12 second monsters...

One thing you have to relize,is the more power you start with ,the more you gain from the SC. A example of this is 95-99 80 hp gained at crank,00-01 95 hp, so supercharged 2002 in my estimate will get 115 more at crank which will bring power to 375 without any other mods!
I do know that a new 6 spd corvette with 350 at crank puts 275 @wheels. I dont believe 2002 front drive max will lose as high as a percent.

I believe that it is definitely possible to run 12s. Of course it can only be done with a ****load of work. I hope to cross that mark eventually.

Was that you parked next to me at crossgates two days ago?
A little math:
260 hp at crank +
80 hp supercharger +
15 hp y-pipe and intake (assuming potential still exists) =
355 hp crank * 85% (15% loss) = 301.75
That's pretty easy math with no NOS.
As for traction - well I'm betting that the LSD will help tons and that the wheels will be wider than 7 inches and come with wider tires.
Right now, I think it is pretty accepted that a 2k 5spd with intake/y puts down around 200-205 to the wheels and should run high 14s/ mid to high on a good day / and 14.38 (madmax2k) on an insane day. Only that high because of crappy 60ft times and the inability to use all the hp at the top end because it is at redline.
Now, assuming that on the 2k2, we should see 220 to the wheels stock, with a peak hp at a more useful point (i.e. not at redline) so that it can be fully utilized - the 2002 ought to be running low 14s stock when driven well. If the ypipe and intake mods are available, it might be possible to break into the 13s without a supercharger on a good day.
I think the 2k2 has my attention.
