$500 for this??

Im considering getting my left rear quarter panel painted and a new back bumper. They are both in pretty rough shape. I got an estimate at a good local body shop that used to sponser my dads race car. He said $500. While at Macco they told me they could do the whole car (not replacing bumpers) for 1700. Just wanted to kno what you guys would do.
P.S. I dont want to let Macco do my car I just wanted to see the price diff.

$500 isn't that bad of a price. Body shop work is expensive to begin with. It's so much because there is alot of prep work, then paint (which they hafta feather and match), and then fitting body panels and such. To save yourself some cash, see if they'll let you do your own prep work. (Take off lights, remove body panels, do some sanding, etc.)

Its definately worht your while to negotiate your labor into their price. It is soooo easy to do. Just don't get ahead of yourself in removing things... i.e. stripped bolts/screws.

new bumper is going to be 100-220 from aftermarket to oem. the rest is labor and paint so i would say its very fair
