dreams off a carbn fiber hood.

i was commenting to my homey jerry about how great it would be to have a carbon fiber hood for the I35's. especially since my car is Diamond Graphite. it would look hot, the black and silver contrast. ah but alas mi amigo's no one is willing to make a damn thing for our cars.

You could probably get one custom made, but as you and I both know when it comes to parts for these cars...it won't be cheap or easy.

Woudn't the same year maxima hood fit and just use a maxima grill and hood latch. I was thinking of doing that with my 96I30 using a 4th gen CF hood and maxima hood latch, but then I need a new maxima grill.

with the 4th gen I30's you would have to change the front fender, bumper, not sure what else to get the hood to fit

a carbon fiber hood for the i30 A32 or A33 would be a good idea. i was going to get a hood made for my i30 at ionicoynamics.com but they wanted $3000 for it and i told them for get it. they told me if i can get enough people to want a carbon fiber hood then they would lower the price. but i dont think people want to.

i think carbon fiber is overrated... unless your really into weight savings... the only thing i hate about them is that they fade easily.

i'm only interested in the look. i don't plan on taking the car on the space shuttle any time soon, so the weight thing can frag off.

I would ONLY want a CF hood for weight savings. Yeah I know that it is a bit overkill but hey, every little thing helps. And the stock hoods are freakin heavy.

I actually wouldn't want the CF looks and would paint it anyway... Although some well designed stipes of unpainted CF to follow the contour of the hood might look very nice.

And no, there is no way a Maxima hood is going to fit an A33 with any amount of modification. You would have to do an ENTIRE front-end conversion... and why the hell did I buy an Infiniti if I wanted it to look like a Maxima?

Ok............................We own luxury cars not sports cars..........Just cus it may say sport on it doesnt mean we have to rice out like a honda and get a CF hood. Sorry but this is one mod that even if was around to for sale at a cheap price i wouldnt buy. and as newlovei30 stated already one off a maxima will not fit our car because of the differences in the front. If you cant figure that on ur own im sorry but u need your eyes checked.

Sry for the rant but this is old news to me and its a dead topic

Why won't a maxima hood fit? Measure the two the only difference is the attached grill on the I30 hood. The only reason you would need fenders was if you are using the I30 bumper. Hood latch is needed as well to make the hood function, rad supports are the same for both. I30 is longer not wider it is the same chasis A32. An A32 maxima carbon fiber hood will fit just change the hood latch and get a grill to fill the void.

In order to replace the hood you would need a Maxima grille, which means that you wouls need the Maxima bumper and headlights, which means you would need Maxima fenders as well...

Its a lot more work than you seem to think. Look at any picture of the two cars and in becomes quite apparent.

Kings -

Are you planning on painting the hood to a diamond graphite colour? or will you be keeping the dark grey carbon fiber look?

I wanted to do a carbon fiber hood but for different reasons (speed freak, weight reduction) but, could not find anyone who would do it. It would have complemented all of my other performance modifications so it would not look ricey at all. There are tons of G35 sedan and coupes with carbon fiber hoods on them.

Lee, i would keep the black/grey carbon fiber look. it would go pretty well with the rest of my black/silver theme on the exterior off the car. it was just a thought, since i've done all i can looks wise for the car, i'm just sitting aroung twiddling my thumbs now.

LMAO! Thanks I needed that. That is exactly what I have been thinking recently. I can't really figure out what to do next so, instead I have been finding other stuff to do. I was thinking about creating a mesh grille for the front bottom part of the car but, I kinda got uninterested in that idea. Unless I can screw around the headlights some more or put on the turn signal mirrors I am pretty much done with the outside too.

i was thinking more of horizontal bars across the bottom, or a billet type grill for the bottom. i'm stuck right on the headlights. i don't know if i want to put the Q45 projectors or the Lexus LS projectors. i have both sets and can't decide which to put in the headlamps, i'm more leaning toward the Q45 for the look.

Definitely go with the Q projectors. The LS projectors have great output, but so do the Q45's, and I think they would fill up our reflectors perfectly. I've been wanting to do this for a while now, as you probably know... Ever since I saw a Lexus GS with a Q retro

Hopefully I will get to it early this summer. I may need to aquire a spare headlight though as this will be my first retro attempt. So if anyone is willing to part with one or both for a decent price, let me know.

Woo Hoo, only one week of school left!

they are not the same size hood...you really are thick sometimes. if it was the same size then it would have a grille piece in the front, obviously it doesnt so its not the same size, and the lines are completely different on both hoods so it wouldnt match up with the fenders at all. u can do it first if u succeed in fitting a maxima hood on ur car with modifications and no gaps u can have my car.

Just another thought on this...

Wonder if there is a CF hood available for the foreign market Maxima (it would be the same as ours). I dont even want to think about how much shipping would be for an item of this size, but I think Ill start searching anyway.

Let y'all know what I find, if anything.

shipping would be hideous. i shipped a spoiler for my uncle once, to put on his I/maxima. it wasn't available where he lives. it was $400. for S&H.

I don't think a carbon fiber hood would look good on an I35.
