trunk mechanism stuck
trunk mechanism stuck
Help please.. 92 se trunk won't open, elect. trunk popper seems to be working, key is turning, mechanism seems to be jammed (turned around?).
I can get at it through the back armrest, see all mechanisms but I dont know if I should be trying to push the little lever (mounted on the car to the right of the mechanism- ) up, or down, or which way. Do I even have the right little release lever I wonder? I'd rather not take out seat and crawl in. Poking it, pushing it hasnt released it yet...
Thanks

Perhaps a Mob hit?
I don't have the car in front of me now to look at it. Are you using the correct key? Not the valet key with the reddish top? But the key with the Black top? When the valet lever on the trunk latch lower hook is flipped the electric release and the valet key won't open it. Only the real owner key with the black top. Perhaps this is what happened?
Same thing happened to me a couple years ago. You could try pushing the trunk release button while a friend pushes up and down on the trunk, but I hate to have to break the news to you, you are probably going to have to take out the seat, and unbolt the hook or get closer to the mechanism.
I had to replace the striker and the mechanism that operates the key release.
Good luck, but whatever you do don't force the key or hammer it or anything or else you could do some damage like I did, and now have a cracked trunk reflector.

Thank you for the thoughts, it's nope not the valet key... but it is a copy and not an excellent one. Tried the push down and push door release button... still no go. Sounds like I take out the back seat tomorrow and crawl in... now where is my socket set...? oh yeah... in the trunk!
Was it difficult to replace the striker and mechanism that operates the release..?

trunk opened from inside...
yes, click from trunk....
so heres how it all went down...
rmoved back seat, crossbar
crawled in the trick is to move the trunk release mechanism to the right! forget the little lever. I did this with a screwdriver and it popped open. What was wrong? Latch mechanism screws came loose and mechanism slipped out of place. Thanks all!
