I have a question about i30. I think that its slower than a maxima because it has heavier chassi but more comfortable but my friend diagrees. Tell me if i am right or wrong.

They share the engine and everything but the i30s have more standard luxury features and are probably heavier then a Maxima... then it depends on what i30 and what Maxima.. I guess a 5spd i30 (very rare) would be faster then an auto Maxima... I know the i30t had Limited Slip Differential, which means it probably had a better shifting auto tranny...

I30 will be slower due to extra weight. It has more sound deadening which makes the car quieter

Same chassis, frame, and engine.

Differences:

Most Maxima's do not have dual power seats where as I30's do. I30's have more sound deadning materials under the hood and throughout the passenger cabin. This makes up for an additonal 150-200 lbs.

You are correct!!!! I also have one of those friends. He has an I30 and I have a Maxima. The Max has a stiffer suspension compared to the I30s or I30T's. I raced him one time with my 99 and won by a 1/2 car lead. Don't let him tell you different. My friend is in the process of getting stiffer springs and shocks for his I30T.

One time when my co-worker had his I30 serviced, he got a free one day loan car that was also an I30 of 97 or 98. I tried driving it around company's parking lot. The quietness was basically the same as my 96 GXE. I didn't get a chance to compare at highway speed.
