"Not Actual Mileage" Title. Voids warranty based on mileage?
Anyone have experience with this sort of title?
I know of someone with a Maxima covered a Nissan Gold Warranty. When the owners moved to another state, for some reason, the mileage wasn't reported or recorded by the state upon registration. The state then issued a title branded "Not Actual Mileage" which is usually associated with odometer fraud or a damaged odometer.
The suspicious mileage is 22K over 14 months. Over that time, the car has been serviced by Nissan mostly at a specific dealer in the current state, which generally records mileage of cars when serviced, and supports the odometer reading on the car.
Apparently, it throws a nice red flag up in CarFax, and I wonder if Nissan would honor the Gold warranty if they knew the status of the title.
Is there any way to show the state that the mileage is valid and to get a clean title or title correction issued? It's complicating the sale of the car.
Alternatively, any idea if Nissan would issue a statement definitively honoring the warranty, since they have records of the car being serviced at intervals supporting the mileage?
any help appreciated
