ATTN: Daniel B. Martin (Need Info about Check Engine Light)
Hi Daniel...
Over the months, I've seen you be very useful to many on the board, and now it's my turn.
Here's the story...
I bought a used STILLEN Intake for my car from my neighbor. He had it on his '99 Maxima SE, but then he sold it, so I bought it from him for my '97 Maxima SE. I installed the intake today, and after installing it, I ran the car for a minute or two to see how loud it was. While the car was running, I noticed that there was hole in the intake (which I later found out was for some Ambient Temperature Sensor, which my car either doesn't have, or I can't find). Upon noticing this empty hole (which I originally thought was supposed to be there), I immediately shut the car off and came to the board for assistance. I don not know if my check engine light was on at this time or not.
Later today, I needed to run some errands, so I removed the STILLEN Intake and put the stock airbox back in, because I wasn't sure if the setup was right. It was at this time I noticed that my check engine light was on. I needed to run the errands so I drove the car easily (not too far). I didn't do any hard accelerating or anything like that. I drove the car to a couple of stores (again, not too far) and the check engine light remained on for the duration of my errands.
I really don't know what I should do here. I'd like to figure out the code and reset the check engine light myself so I don't have to take the car to a shop, but I really don't know how to go about doing that. I hope I didn't seriously mess up my car, because the last thing I want are a whole mess of problems.
Any light you could shed on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Nick

While I am on a role here I should mention that Dan B. knows a great deal about cars but he is not involved in aftermarket parts{except a FSTB}, so point being you should not singal him out for a ?? on a mod related problem. Right Dan?

Somehow, the problem fixed itself.
I redid the procedure to check for the code again to make sure I wasn't missing something. When I redid it, I got error 0505 - which according to bill99gxe means "All Clear/No Error Detected".
Then, I reset the ECU and started the car again and the Check Engine Light wasn't on.
Many thanks to emax and Daniel B. You guys were a great help to me. Those stickys have been there for so long that I kind of ignore them. I didn't know there were new ones added.
Thanks again!
