Help....water marks after waxing....

Hey guys I recently tried out the Turtle Wax Ice Wax and I like the results. The only problem is that after it rains I get some water spots on the hood and a little on the roof in trunk. Is it because of the wax? Anything I can do to quickly remove it instead of the whole wash/wax process? Anything that should come before the wax that would prevent this? Thanks for the help.

Is it etched in or just on the surface?

If its just on the surface, wash it off
If its etched in you will have to polish it off or try using 50/50 vinegar water solution

Its surface. When I wash they come off. When I wash/wax everything is fine. But after a wax and it rains...the rain creates marks on the surface. Just annoying because the wax is supposed to protect from that correct?

Since it wiped off, it's just dirt, probably in the shape of the bead created by the wax. The wax is doing it's job, you just have to clean it after it rains. You could look for a wax that sheets the water off, but I perfer the beads myself. I like to watch em dance while my hood rattles, lol.

Rainwater is normally full of minerals, and in some locales it's actually acid rain. This is what's causing the watermarks. Wax protects the paint, the watermarks are in the wax layer, it's nothing to worry about. Just make sure you use something to maintain the wax coat in between waxings.

Ok so the In-between wax sprays should do the trick?

After it rains you may want to try a water blade to remove the water. If you leave standing water in the sunlight it will bake your surface.

On the other point, I've had great luck with the "wax as you dry" products.

Are the water blades any good? I've been thinking of getting one for just that purpose.

They remove most of the water in one careful pass. They are not as thorough as a good microfiber towel, but if the car is a little dirty you don't want to use a towel anyway. Plus, towels have to be hung to dry, whereas the blade doesn't absorb water.

Dont use the blade on rain water, you are just dragging dirt across your paint

For all the minerals in our water, I don't see a difference in using it on rainwater vs. the hard water from the hose. Obviously if the car is dirty to begin with it makes no sense to do it.
