Car shuts down if I rev high?

What's up guys.. hoping one of you guys can actually help me with this problem..

I just got a 5spd swap done and I'm pretty sure it's related to it because it never used to do it before the swap.

When ever i shift the car just before redline (or if i'm in neutral and revving it near redline) the voltage and oil pressure lights come on and the car shuts off on it's own. once it does that.. I cant start the car at all... it takes awhile and I gotta give it some gas and then it backfires like crazy and finally starts after like 5-6 tries. However..once it starts up..everything is back to normal (until I rev it near redline again)

I hooked up the consult tool to it and it gives me a crank sensor code (the crank sensor that's near the power steering lines in the engine bay if i remember correctly) Once the car starts up on it's own..the code is gone..

Do you guys think it's a faulty crank sensor (i forgot the correct name of it..the one by the power steering lines...) that's causing this.. or is it something else that's causing this that triggers the crank sensor code? Because I dont really see how it's the crank sensor if the car is already running before it does this.

any help is appreciated!

thanks in advance!

The crank sensor sometimes does prevent a car from starting, I don't know about the high revving thing, I'd say just don't go redline lol, I know it's hard especially after a 5spd swap.

It does it JUST before redline.. between 6000 and 6500 RPM's.. I thought it was by fluke when it happened the first time (I was revving it in neutral in a parking lot) but it did it again today when I was trying to cut in front of an RSX because a parked car was in front of me... i shifted just before redline from 2nd into 3rd.. and then as i was braking... the voltage and oil pressure lights came on and the car shut off (how embarassing lol) took a good 5-6 tries to get it going again after some gas and massive backfiring..

i guess i shouldn't go redline.. but it shouldn't be doing that in the first place??

You can do it as long as you got the money for an engine rebuild, but I mean maximas can take like 20-40k of straight abuse if you maintain it well.

how am i abusing it if i'm shifting it where it normally shifts when you WOT it if you had an automatic tranny?

I'm assuming no one else has this problem with their 5spd so therefore something is up with mine? any solutions?

never mind...solved the problem... the crank sensor somehow got a lil loose and needed to get tightened again... there was a whole bunch of dirt back there that probably didn't help either.

thanks for the help to ppl who posted!
