Pink Plug?
Pink Plug?
What is the pink plug that is located on the IACV? When the mechanic installed my TPS, they forgot to plug it back in and I drove around for a week before finding out that it was unplugged. Just wondering if that was a good thing or not and if it has any negative affects.

(this is not my picture, just got it from somewhere else on this forum)

No, that is not my picture. I don't know if I also have the purple one, I'll look and check it out tomorrow. But does anyone know exactly what this is, and was it safe for me to drive with it unplugged?
the big tan one in the middle is IACV-AAC. the pink and purple ones are to increase idle rpm to accomodate for power steering or air conditioning.
with that said, can somebody do me a favor.
unscrew the 2 philips screws holding the IACV-AAC in and pull out the shaft. plug it into the harness and turn the ignition key between on and off (do not start the engine) and tell me how much the shaft moves in and out.
the FSM directions say:
"4) Remove the idle air adjusting unit assembly (IACV-AAC valve is built-in) from engine. The IACV-AAC valve harness connector should remain connected.
5) Turn ignition switch ON and OFF, and verify that the IACV-AAC valve shaft smoothly moves forward and backward. If NG, replace the IACV-AAC valve."
-now when the IACV-AAC valve shaft smoothly moves forward and backward, mine moves a few millimeters at most, but i'm not sure how much its supposed to move. i'm having a hard time pinpointing my idle issues right now.

I think all of our maximas have both PS and AC, but not all have both smaller sensors. That's what I've still been wondering about. I can try to check mine, but I'm not sure that mine is running right at all. My idle fluctuates pretty bad.
I'll try it out for you today. She was not liking my 2.5hr trip yesterday about two hours in, it was raining at that point and she didn't idle right to save her life. Not happy about it but I have a 96 ECU I'm gonna upgrade JWT and maybe she'll get better! I'll post up on the IACV tonight!
