97 Maxima need help

the car makes a rattleing noise when you first step on the gas.....does anyone know what the problem might be?

Sounds like detonation - are you using the correct octane of fuel? Low octane garbage will cause that. Detonation damages the engine.

nope, i use 89 and 93 only. will a starter cause that?
