I have decided to go back to my stock exhaust setup, for a few reasons.
Can't pass inspection(been expired for almost a year!!) due to O2 sensor codes. My budget y pipe has seen better days, half the hangers are broken and i got some nice leaks in the muffler. and i think the cat is toast...
I also live in Massachusetts, and for those of you who don't know our emissions testing keep getting worse and worse. Basically if you pull a code, ANY CODE, you fail. Gone are the days of you fail the OBD test and we shove it in the pipe and take a sniff.

I am basically replacing the entire exhaust from the manafolds back. I want to go back to stock, or pertty close to it. Does anyone have any recommendations for where i can get a new cat and y pipe from? as far as the y, it DOES need to be OEM, as i am going for the technically "legal" setup this time. From the cat back i will prob wind up going with something aftermarket, simply because it will be cheaper than OEM. Also if anyone has any recommendations on pertty quiet, nearly stock cat backs i would appriciate it as well.

 

Why not just a smog rated high flow cat, keep the y pipe? And how do you get by with a year no inspection? I was 2 months expired in NY and got 5 tickets ($65 each!!) I think one more and they tow me

 

in order to get the O2 sensors in the y-pipe they had to be welded. Don't ask. I think one of not both were damaged when they were welded in, and well the only way to fix them is to replace the pipe.

As far as not getting any tickets for the sticker, I havn't been pulled over in over a year. The fine for an expired reg sticker is only $25 and a non-moving violation.

Lucky, our traffic cops give these tickets out like candy. Everytime I parked on the street I'd get hit by one.

 

I would personally keep the Y-pipe, you should replace the O2 sensors. Definately replace the cat and go with a SS B-pipe with the stock Tail Pipe.

I'm in a similar situation, though I'm only looking to do cat-back. My OBX-H muffler lost the center silencer, and now it is realllly loud. I'm debating whether to have an exhaust shop just weld in a new muffler, or if I should get a whole new cat-back. My only concern is I don't believe the obx-h has a resonator in the B pipe.
