i guess it just hit at the right spot, and the metal just cracked, and kept going...... it also may have been a manufacturer defect..... id call the company... although it does look like you were going more than 25 MPH....or that was some seriously weak aluminum

Here's the pothole(s)...

I tried to dodge the first one by turning to the right, and I clipped the second one with the front passenger wheel.

Jayson, Let me send that to a friend of mine before you ship it to Enkei. he works in metal failure analysis and can posibly provide more insight on it for you.

Had he been going faster... make a hard, quick turn and pull the e-brake, you'll slide, dirt or not. Then when you're ready, turn into the skid, stomp the gas, and release the ebrake.

Just make sure you have low pro's when you do it. Doing it with stock tires only works when it's wet outside, or you have no tread left.... not that I would know

I was not going that fast...the following picture show the pothole from the opposite direction. I was stopped at that intersection.

Okay,

I may try to bring it to you today.

And BTW, do you happen to have a spare window switch? Mine is on the blink.

The master switch can only lower the other 3 windows, not raise them . I can raise them at the other switches, but my passenger rear is already broken, so it's stuck down...and as you know, it rains every damn day here

I might have a single rear switch or something, but not sure. we can tear it apart and see if I can't get it resurrected though.

And guys, FWD cars do not drift. they drag a$$. that's not drifting. drifting involves POWER OVERSTEER, not A$$ DRAGGING!

just because it's a Maxima forum doesn't mean there's no ricers trying to drift.

If you wanna drift your FWD, then go to hondatech.com and stay away from the rest of us.

i have known a lot of people that have had similar things happen to them at rather low speeds. they all had Enkei's and they all now refuse to buy them ever again. i wonder if they are not making them as good as they use to? Now out of everyone that i know that it happen to they all had low pro tires on. Wonder if that makes a difference?

It makes all the difference. Low profile tires have a small side wall, leaving that much little room between the rim and road.

Pothole is really small. But the dent in the wheel is huge. Not the rim but the wheel itself. Looks like the inner wheel is bent too

I hope I never see a Maxima "drift" on purpose, at least until they are made into RWD cars...

I'd say that's valid excuse. Modding the VG or VE flexplate would probably be pretty tough unless you got a custom one done

and i didnt have a FULL wiring harness for the VE motor
That doesn't mean it didn't work. That means you didn't do what was necessary to finish it up. We all knew that a wiring harness swap was necessary. What part did you have?

The engine harness is pretty seperate from the rest of the car's functions

I called them today. They told me to take it to discount tire and have them inspect it and return it to the factory.

Wow, thats pretty bad, I would contact Enkei and explain to them the situation, chances are they will replace the rim. That looks to be a manufacturing issue. There is no reason that rim should have separated like that. They should give you a new rim. And if they are a good company, which they are they should help you out, although you will probably have to ship the old rim back to them so they can look at it and try to figure out what happened. Good luck and sorry for your mishap. Bruce
