Well, Maxima is at the dealer getting warranty work done.

Hope they get the stuff fixed. Closest dealer is 45 min away. Took the car there 2 weeks ago in Las Cruces NM, took it in for the rear seat belt wont retract.....they have to replace, chrome roof trim really faded.....they have to replace, quarter size piece of paint peeled off the front bumper....they probably will say a rock chip and not covered....was not a rock chip. Also, told them the 55-65mph shimmy that shakes the wheel so bad winds my watch for me. Well, 2 weeks ago they said they would call me when the parts came in and then let me know when they got a loaner car......2 weeks, no call parts were in, was about to call them, they called me. Sir, your parts have been in and we made an appointment on the 7th to get your car fixed but you never showed. Do you still want the car fixed? I was surprised because they never called me to tell me parts were in and never set a date. Weird. Well, they told me to bring the car down today and will get it worked on. Hard leaving it there and even weirder was driving the Neon loaner car. Never drove a Neon, but this thing is pretty slow!!! Automatic Neon. But hey, at least I got a loaner and hope the get all the fixes done. Now my worries are they will not fix the paint, will not find the shimmy problem, and drive home with a stress crack in the windshield from the roof trim. Guess paranoid. Will let you all know how it goes. Also having them do a TSB check on everything.....doubt they will.....you know how that goes.

Yep, still under the warranty. Aftermarket 20" rims are on the buy sheet when I got the car new. Dealer installed so should not be an issue. Hopefully no stress crack in the windshield after the trim install. Dealer said Nissan did nothing to change the new trim, all the same so might happen again. Still under warranty. 20,600 miles on her and really taken care of since day one off the lot. Last time it was in was for the shift **** that broke off 2 weeks after I got it. I love the car but the Nissan dealers are such a pain.

I just feel will get the car back, chrome trim good for about another year, then warranty is off of it and chrome roof trim goes bad again. They will not fix the paint and say not covered, but seatbelt will get fixed.

Also, just a feeling I will have to live with the shimmy. Guess time to run this thing in the ground. Tempting to trade it in but have so much money invested in it and trade in value sucks....even though I found me a 06 3 series BMW for 35 grand....nice, new, and black with sports package. I think it is just time to keep the car and buy a house instead of trading it in.

No complaints on the Maxima engine though, nice. Interior, nice. Real happy with it. I guess other people on the board are picky about their cars also like me. Never had so many little things with fit and finish go wrong on a new car and deal with the frustration of getting stuff fixed. You plop down over 30 grand on a Nissan flagship......dealer is your best friend then....until after the sale. Now, they act like a Neon as a loaner is a major blessing they had to pull things to get for you.....last dealer never gave loaners at all.....

So nice to work on my wifes 94 5.0 GT Stang convert. All stock, easy to work on and cheap to fix with parts and aftermarket galore. I can tell you though, the Maxima is much quicker than the Stang......granted it is a automatic convert that is heavy....but love the sound of the engine and the possibilities with the cheap 5.0 mods. Really nothing out there for the Maxima.

Will let you know how the dealer takes care of the stuff. Kinda long post, but we have so few posts, people have time to read....

hoping for you. thankfully I have not been dissapointed as of yet... though my chrome trim had reverse dents, got that redone a year later to see if it still faded.

well atleast after the Neon you will feel like buying a Max all over again...

btw, do you have hub centric rings for those 20's? most often cause for shimmy in all vehicles.

if you can afford to get the extended warranty go for it...before your bumper to bumper expires.

i have an 04 elite and there is so much stuff on this that can go wrong. they had to change the nav screen because it started flaking out. that alone would pay for having the warranty. i'm covered till may '09, nothing like worry free driving there is nothing yet that the dealer said wasn't covered...
