......versus.......
$25,000 loaded SE versus $33,000 loaded SE

Which would you choose?

ps: if you want to pick on the prices noted, the trim levels indicated, etc, save your energy by creating your own thread. Otherwise, it would be interesting to find out why you would pick Altima over Maxima or vice versa. Thx.

which SE are you talking about? 2.5 or 3.5? anyways it really doens't matter I voted for the altima, really getting tired of the rear axle, give me a 350hp maxima for $30000 I'll still pick the altima. You can also nos,SC,whatever the altima with the extra $ and you can easily kick the new maxima + theres more interior room!

Well say, well say....Either the Altima or the 03 Max/G35. The '02 Max does not appeal to me much except the 6sps.

not to sound like a heretic or anything, but if the maxima se didn't have a 6 speed manual, i'd go for an acura tl type-s. its a better value and offers so much more, and its all standard too.

Altima is my choice also. I like the looks better than the new max and for alomost 10,000 grand less you cant convince me to get a max for 20 more hp or one extra gear.

Well I actually voted for the Max yesterday, but the more I look at the pictures on nissannews.com, the more I want the Altima. I love Maximas, always have, but looking at the modifications to the 02's it is clear that the maxima is going luxury. The new grill/logo is too pronounced, and although I like the clear rears, the grey paint inside should have been silver like the altimas. I also wonder if the maxima is getting the 3.5 as an afterthought to carry it through to 03'. Dont get me wrong, it's a great addition, but if you're Nissan, and are designing a new model for next year, how much money do you spend working the kinks out of the 02'? Remember when the Jeep Grand Cherokee got the 5.2L V8 for the first time, and the rear ends kept blowing up under the added power??? Thats what I worry about with the 02'. I figure I'll wait for the 03' altima, with the kinks out, probably a few extra horses once the maxima is new, and i'll be happy

In my opinion the new Altima is better then the new max in just about every way, then add a 5-10K saving? I meen come on, who in there right mind whould pick the new max over the new Altima?

Right now I am contimplating getting a killer deal on a 2001 Max or paying a little more and getting a 2002 Altima? Hmm... If I can get a unloaded V6 Altima for under 23K I will go with the Alty.

it also depends on the aftermarket for these cars. Like the new Sentra Se-r will have a nice following but what about the Altima? Or the 3.5 max?
As what I would get? I dont know really. All about the cost. But 20 hp is not worth an extra 10 grand. I am hoping the 3.5 altima would be in the 20Grand to 23 Grand. But it wont.

I whould think that a base model 3.5 with a 5spd would be in the 21-23K range. We will know soon, say July 17th.

It's either on July 17th or the 27th that the press{AKA MT C&D etc.} get's to test drive it and all. They will have a good est. price at that time. The release is staged for the begining of September but I am sure you will see one on the lot in late Augoust. I believe the official production date will begin on like Aug. 11th{I can't remember for sure}.

I don't think you acn get a 3.5 S or 3.5 SL. 3.5 only comes with SE.
check this link out
http://www.nissannews.com/nissan/pro...tima/spec.html
If this is true and if nissan repeats itself in history, it will SUCK, because all Canadian SE model comes fully loaded with leather, sunroof, etc... and my hopes of getting a 3.5 will be very very slim.
Also to get HID you have to get sunroof and rear spoiler package, that sucks. American SE version will have leather package, sunroof package, cold weather package, bose system,ABS(WTF??not standard?this ain't no intergra typeR),and TCS as options

Remember that the 180hp in the SE-R will be the same motor the base level Altima will be using. I think that increases the likleyhood for aftermarket support even more.

I think the aftermarket is going to be quite big...

think about it, 3.5 VQ in:
Altima
Maxima
Z
G35
I35
Pathfinder/QX4

Something's got to happen (and yes I know the Z and G35 are RWD)

Hmmm, the front end on both of those cars look like they are trying pretty hard to look like a Passat.
