One-piece BMW Halos and clear corners...pics update!
Okay well I started by buying the Halo BMW lights on ebay awhile back. They were actually only like $89 shipped but as soon as I got them I figured out why. The unit is one entire piece, and cannot be separated. At first I thought it would be a dilema untill I found that these lights will actually fit really well inside the Maxima, and all you have to do is take out the ENTIRE headlight assembly, including the black bracket. The only problem this presented was that now I have to make custom mounts for the grille, but that should be easy with some sheatmetal and a drill. Anyways....here's a pic of the lights I bought:

The first step was to take the headlight assembly apart, so I had to pry off the plastic face with a screwdriver since it was stuck on the housing with black adhesive.

Then I took the corner light off my car and broke off the lense with a screwdriver. To my knowlege there's really no other way to get it off. It was really stuck on there good. I definetally cut my hands a few times in the process. oh well. After doing this, I used a grinding wheel, sandpaper, dremel with sanding attachment, bondo, sandable primer, and semi flat duplicolor paint to get the clear corner to this point. I also had to cut off the mounting piece for the corner lamp, to make room for the new projector corner light I'm using. This took ALOT of time and patience to get to this point, and is definetally the harderst part so far.

Here's a pic of the back with the lamp mount taken off. I would have taken pics of the sanding and bondo process, but you get the idea from the finished product. Again, I cannot stress how much time this took. But I think it looks good! Plus it's my first time using bondo....

if you take a look at the pic where the lense is separated, you can see the tabs on top. If these were real euro spec headlights, you could just take the housing out of these brackets and be done with it. However these are all plastic, so I had to use a grinding wheel to remove all the unnecessary tabs and mounting things from the lights. Essentially all I'm left with is this:

You can see that those tabs on top are gone, and the corner light is pretty much ready to be epoxied to the bmw light. I'm going to use anchor tite marine epoxy because it is SUPER strong and waterproof. It actually works underwater. I'm also using a black silicone sealant to connect the wade covers to the housings. Thats still comming up though. Here's more pics of how well it fits together:

more to come soon I hope!

it looks sweet and only for $89 SHIPPED!!!!
but it looks to me like your doing a pretty good job with all that
really im not trying to burst your bubble but it looks like you'll have to re-aim the lights
it just looks that way to me

You can heat up the corners and slowy pry the lense away from the housing. It's a pain, but it'll come apart.
Stupid question, but I assume you are test fitting the lights every step of the way, right? The angle of the lights with the corner doesn't quite look like the contour of the front end, but it could be the angle of the pic.
so far, so good!

those pieces aren't even together, I just kinda set them up together to illustrate how well they fit. (hince the pack of camel lights under the corner, lol) I still have to epoxy them. Whats really awesome about these lights is that since I'm using the plastic housing, all the light adjustments are fully functional. They just screw into the plastic. It's really nice actually! I have full control of aiming my headlights after they're mounted in the car....almost regardless of how I mount the corner to the headlight. Just like if they were in an actual BMW
finally some in depth pics on how to do the 1-piece headlights!!! r u gonna take pics of the how ur gonna mount them onto the car? im just wonderin' how r the lights gonna be held by if ur only gonna use the 2 10mm nuts behind the lights and not use the 2 10mm bolts that go on the side of the lights behind the corner lamps? take pics of that as well or explain that way i can start on mine already.
Good luck with the project. I dont really like that style E36 light though (with the little lights on the top) but am sure when finished it will look good.
I have sucessfully taken off the corner lenses with the oven. i have also melted one (a UK corner at that
) because I was busy doing several things and forgot it was in there. I have swapped lenses on at least 4 corners though without any problems. As long as you keep the temp in check and keep an eye on the corner (dont keep it in there too long) you can pull it off with ease and re-attach it with out any problems.

Sorry folks....it's been awhile since I worked on them. I did in fact Epoxy the pieces together with marine epoxy and they fit beautifully. I just need to bondo the joint to make it smooth and paint. Then I'll have to find a way to waterproof the wades onto the headlights. Does anyone have any sugestions? I'm not too sure how to do it so they're completly water tight.
