Does warranty cover a cracked windshield?
My dad got in his car today and noticed that his windshield was cracked. It wasn't there when he parked the car. The crack isn't due to a rock or any sort of impact and you can tell by looking at it. It starts from the edge of the windshield, at the molding and makes its way to the center. Does anyone know if nissan warranty will cover this, if he can prove it wasn't damaged from impact?
unfortunately, my dad has liberty mutual and they only cover it if using the comprehensive deductible of $500, and i know the windshield doesn't cost that much. anyone have experiences with the windshield and warranty?

Call a mobil glass company. (look in the yellow pages)
They will come to your job or home and replace the windshield.
Should cost around 200- 250. I got my 4th gen windshield for $180 installed.

I had mine replaced under warranty. Stealership offcourse tried to tell me that I caught a rock but they couldn't find any traces and the crack was exactly like you said: from under the molding. So after about 20 minutes of them looking at it they agreed and replaced the windshield under warranty.
hmm...i just called the dealer and they said the windshield is only covered for the original warranty, even though my dad bought the extended warranty. what is that? isn't the whole point of an extended warranty to cover the originaly warranty!?!?!
thanks for all the input by the way! very helpful.

You'd think so.. Is the car brand new then? depending ont he type of crack it is, you could probably argue that it was there before you purchased the car. If it's used though, they'll probably tell you to shove it..

Well, after talking with the local dealer, I called Nissan USA and found out that Nissan decided to extend the basic warranty of the vehicle for another 2 years and 24,000 miles! So, based on this, the warranty will cover the windshield, unless the local dealer screws me over and says it was hit by a rock. But I'm still
about why the extended warranty doesn't cover everything the basic warranty covers.
