My own Custom Grill!

Almost finished!! .. just got to tweak it and a few well placed bends and a bunch o' coats o' clear coat. ( the little bits of rubber tubing on the bottom are just temporary so it doesnt rub my paint while I fine tune ) I got the lettering from a local 6genner DLy2k1 who debadged his trunk lid. (cudos bro!) what u guys think?

I might be past the point of no return on taking any letters off ... 2 part epoxy JB Weld sticks like shyt on a blanket LOL ... I like the look of just bare bones black mesh but my wife veto'd saying there should be a touch of chrome, concidering she liked the old stock grill as it was. Plus its 100% origonal. I also was thinking the nissan burger thing but in a diff way. was thinking of making 2 chrome archs ... putting it above and below the "MAXIMA" ... making a custom "MAXIMA" burger but I'll run with this for awhile

You have to take off the badges, it looks terrible. Other than that it could be nice!

I agree w/ most.
I would either go w/ the burger logo, or nothing at all.
If the 3.5 lettering was smaller, maybe just have that only.

Well, thats only my opinion. To each their own.
If you like it, thats all thats important. - But, you did ask.

Hey I appreciate the idea's gents ... I still have enough mesh to make a new mesh portion ... just grind the welds off ... I'll just say to the wife that all the decals came off in the car wash

I personally would have no emblems in the front. And for your situation. I'd think blacking out the maxima emblem would look good, then put the 3.5 (black it out also) in the very very far right top corner. And lose the SE. And thats only if u must keep the emblems. Also for the chrome part for ur wife, just tell her that the emblems got scratched somehow and you had to paint them black b/cuz they didn't look good anymore.

Hmmm. yeah, if you could paint the bumper behind the grill black, it would also help.

nice job,
I'd somehow get rid of/hide the two black clips (?) that are visible as well as getting rid of the badges. Oh yeah, and paint the inside to black.

I think that the maxima on the grill is wicked. If I am the only one who cares. That is a great job. Fit looks really good as well.

Im curious to know if you have any photos of your car from an angle.

Is your grille just flat going across?
Does it curve and fit the contours of the car?

Doesn't look too bad, but like others have mentioned. Without the emblems might have looked better. But kudo's on your work.

We need to see Angled front shots, let us see how the grille fits to the contours of the car.

If your grille is just going straight across then it needs to get fixed.

Not particuarly fond of this but I admire your efforts...as the others said, without the emblems would probably help.

The "Maxima" doesn't look bad at all IMO, however I think you could've done without the 3.5 SE on the upper right corner. Nice to see some originality though. Props on that.

is the back of your car "badgeless?" if so why badge it up again in the front? imo remove the badges and it'll look a lot cleaner but please leave it if you like it.

Ber - how the F**k did you get your stock grille out? I took off the little plastic piece and all of those cheap plastic "things" to hold it in place and I went to take the grille out and it looked like something was holding it at the bottom..any ideas?

its not to bad .... right at the bottom of the stock grille from the inside (between the rad and the grille) are four chromed flat tabs you'll see sticking out from a lip molded into your bumper. You have to push the clip under the tab, up and out towards you. just stick a screwdriver gently under the chrome tabs from the back, pry up and pull one the grill towards yourself, one tab out at a time. Good luck!

I don't think it looks too bad at all. I definitely applaud the effort. The only suggestion I would make would be to remove the 3.5SE badge, but it doesn't sound like you'll be able to do that now.

All that matters is if you like it.
