I've always wanted altezzas for my black max, but I refuse to get the eurosclearblingblangblindme ones.. i just don't like the looks of them on a black max. So what's your opinion on these??

could be worse but still not a fan. Red/clears really are the way to go.

 

Just an idea. Get these and a can of vht niteshades and spray them black and clear them. All you will see is the two circles when the lights are on or you hit the brakes. Otherwise they will be totally blacked-out. On your black max, they will look awesome!

 

hmm that's an interesting idea, I've been thinkin about niteshading my bumper lights.
If I do get these I'll have to see how they match my trunk. I liked the CE altezza mod but was worried about how those would look up close.. I'm a bit **** about those things. I know I'd only like them if they matched or were very close to it.

 

I did this to mine but my car is white. I did about 6 coats of niteshade and 10 coats of clear. You have to be careful when you do the niteshade because it will get very dark. This may sound obvious but take off the lights to do this. It takes alittle more time but it is worth it. I think it will look great on a black car.

I'm more of a fan of the style for style for the 97-99s I think they are called the gen2 altezzas or somthing.

If it's in u'r budget I would do a trunk swap and then put these in, these are the CF (probably fake) ones, they have other colours available.

They are LEDs so they look much better at night and would look sweet if u did the whole nightshade thing.

Most of the time I think altezzas are ricy, but this style could be made to look pretty good with the LED circles.

Red/Clears or DTM for the win!

 

Thats probably the BEST of the WORST after market taillights out there....I always thought thosre are good for the racer look but if you want sleek with a look that will last forever I would go with the Red/clears.....

this reminds me of the rice look that people like to get for their civics and integras. be unique and get someting that looks nice and that sets you apart from others. especially honda's.

or, another idea that I would LOVE, take the altezza outter clear lens and put it on the stock housing, then you'd have fully cleared tails which look f'n mint.

 

Go with the smoked red/clears. I have them on my black Max and they look sweet.

 

agreed. i had the gen 2 led altezzas untill like 5 days ago when i made my DTM's. i sometimes liked the altezzas, especially at nite, but during the day most of the time i hated the riceyness. i love my DTM's now.

I LIKE THEM! been looking fro soemthing like these. the only thing i dont like is that they are not leds.

 

did you tint your tail lights? wasnt sure what DTM means.

 

Dallas Tailight Mod

Removing the amber lense and painting the housing black.

 

Well I finally found a pic of the lights installed on a black max.. and I have to say I don't like them.


I'm not giving up though. I understand most of you like the red/clears or dtm mod the most but I'm convinced I can get altezzas that look good. Those genII lights look nicer than the ones I linked before.. I still think they'd have the same problem of not blending in with the trunk. There are some altezzas on ebay that have a paintable faceplate, ie the tails would not be recessed in clear plastic like all the others. I do think these would look nice as the rest of the taillight fascia would look like it was part of the trunk (ideally).

I think that's about as close as they offer to what I'm looking for. Any thoughts on this idea? Again I respect that most of you like the red/clears and I kinda like them too, but we can't all have the same tails

 

I have the normal altezzas that are painted black except a circle for the lights to show. I like them and I like the ones in the picture you found.

 

if you are on your way to having a maxima everyone laughs at, go ahead.

I opened them up and painted them with chrome spray paint then used red tail light spray paint for the clear lens.

oh! thats what you guys are doing . cool now im gonna try this mod i already did the red clear mod. i wanted to get the smoked red tail but why? just do this mod and save the money. How about this you can also night shade the Red part just a little to darken it a bit,im not familiar with night shade but is it possible to darken it only a little withe one or two coats? I saw the tails on a benz with the red portion of the tails darkened it looked really sick.

 

If u like the gen2s that i mentioned in my previous post I think the only really rice thing about them is the white in the middle. Tailights only look ricy because of the bright white they have, just darken the white circles in the middle.
