Exterior Chrome Kit - PICS

Got the chrome kit I was looking for from kingofsorrow, took some pics for comparison and this is what I came up with:

A well-maintained stock 2000 I30 in Brilliant Silver:

This is what it looks like with the kit installed (except the B-pillar chrome inserts):

FINAL PICS CONTINUED IN THE NEXT POST (5 image limit per post)...

It looks okay, but my personal taste is to cut back a bit, so I decided to go with my original plan and only install the sideview mirror covers and the door handle covers:

And this is what it will look like when I clear the headlights:

I think I'll sell the extra trim pieces on eBay for real cheap. I have to sell the B-pillar trim pieces seperate though because they say "Maxima" on them in tiny letters at the bottom.

I think your inclination to go light on the chrome was a good one.

BTW - if you're opening up the headlights to remove the amber I'd go ahead and paint the insides of the headlamp while you're at it. You don't even have to go black like a lot of people do, I think a subtle gray/titanium would look real nice.

IMO, the only pieces that look good are the mirror pieces....the others just look out of place since they aren't flush.

Aside from the mirrors, VERY tastefully done.

BTW, the trim isn't actually installed in those pictures, it's just Scotch-taped to the car, so it will actually be a bit more flush when installed for real.

I had a feeling I'd get mixed opinions about this one. I personally only like the sideview mirrors and door handles chromed, but my buddy said he thinks I should drop the handles and mirror covers and keep the headlight and taillight trim. It's all personal taste.

For those of you that like the headlight and/or taillight trim, I'm selling those pieces (front and rear) for $55 shipped.

I'm glad you took off most of that chrome, especially the trim around the break lights...I think it was just too much. Just my opinion. I would save that money and invest in some better rims. I've got the same model and I cannot wait to swap out the rims for something better!!

Yeah I hate those uber-gay stock rims. But the car came with 4 brand-new tires, so I hate to shell out money for 18" rims PLUS money for new tires when the ones I have aren't even a year old. Next year though, assuming I'll still have spending cash to play with, and assuming I won't trade it in for something nicer, next year I'd like to get some decent rims put on.

True, but you could always buy new 18" and use them as summer shoes and then put the stock rimes/tires on for winter.

I hear ya, that was another reason why I bought an I30T over an regular I30, I love the stock 5 spoke 17"'s.

Here is a black one with the chrome trims.

Here is my i30 with the chrome trim. I got compliments on it every single day. And I put it all on except for the pillars.
