Brake Rotor TSB ?
I have 14700 miles on my car and the rotors are warped. I can notice this if i brake at 80 mph. I am planning on taking my car in to get this fixed. What does the dealer exactly do to remedy this problem. Do they put new rotors and brake pads? Or do they just turn the rotors? What should I say if they try to blame the warping on me???
The problem with the warped rotors came about because the bolts which hold them on were over-torqued at the factory. My dealer machined the rotors and reinstalled them using the correct amount of torque and so far things seem to be OK. Some dealers replace the rotors, some replace the rotors and pads, some machine the rotors, it all depends on the dealer really. If they try to blame the warping on you refer them to the TSB - it was issued to fix this factory defect.
