Finally finished installing my slotted Brembo's and Hawk pads, and did the as the instructions said, 6-10 35mph average stops and 2-4 50mph Fast stops. It was just amazing how great this combo is. not as good as the S4's, but I was getting thrown forward instead of just being nudged.

How much for the whole setup?

My breaks are getting on my nerves... freakin shakes are so annoying... and the freakin pads are still relatively new... I just want to replace the whole thing and dont have to feel the shakes anymore...

 

There's a GB right now that has a pretty good deal on different setups. I got my brembo blanks and PBR deluxe's for 289 Shipped!!!

 

Nexus, I hope this isn't too old to resurrect, but I had a few questions about your setup.

1. Did you do all four or just the fronts?
2. Did you go with the Hawk HPS or Ceramic?
3. Do you think the price of the slotted is justified over the blanks?

Don't buy those PBR pads they suck . Cover you rims with loads of dust and noisy. Invest some more buck and go with HPS.

 

+1. I have the Bembo blanks with the Hawk pads. I love them better than OEM. I was doing a buck thirty and touched the brakes and they grabbed luvlee.

 

I have always wanted to get hawk pads. For my next brake service I will be purchasing powerslot cryo rotors and hawk HPS pads.

Hawk HPS pads are amazing. The bite/stopping power when they are warm is unbelievable.

I'm going to put them on the wife's Odyssey...boy could that thing ever use more stopping power!

 

I have slotted brembo's and hawk hps's and i love them!! Ive put probably 5k on them and they keep getting better, i think it way worth it.

 

What do the rest of you think of this? I'm not really an aggressive driver and I definitely don't race my car, but I would like something that is noticeably better than OEM rotors & pads.

 

I did 6th gen calipers, rotors & pads, plus ss lines on the wife's 2k2 GLE. Much better than stock. I'll be doing the same to mine soon.

 

Did the 6th gen calipers, rotors fit ok with 17" rims???

They fit very nicely under the factory wheels. There is a thread that talks about the required spacing for the 6th gen calipers.

It's a straight bolt up and relatively speaking, rather inexpensive. It is a nice improvement in pedal feel and braking power. I didn't think the additional weight of the bigger calipers & rotors was noticeable in the steering. Much more confidence inspiring than the OEM setup.

There are a couple of threads re: this on the forum, complete with instructions, part numbers, etc. etc. It a fair afternoon's worth of work. I think the worst part of the whole project was bleeding the brakes.

I also changed over to DOT 4 fluid. I used Valvoline SynPower DOT 4 - it was available at my local auto parts store - quite reasonably priced. I also swapped out the rubber lines for braided SS lines. There is a thread on SS lines on the forum you may want to read as well. Personally, I think they are worth it and I've never had a problem with SS lines (ran them over 10 years on my B13 without a hitch).

 

I just ordered Brembo blanks (front only) and Hawk HPS pads all around from tirerack ($279 shipped). From what everyone is saying, I can't wait to get them on. I can't count how many times I've nearly rear-ended someone because the stock brakes are so weak.
