your talking about that flea-bay one right? What I've read is goes something like this...
1) horrible welds and one guy needed to "undercut" the welds to that he was sure that it wouldn't break on a hard shift.
2) the bushings are crap. B&M uses a sealed ballbearing unit that requires no maintenance. The flea-bay one has a plastic bushing and who knows how long that will last for?
3) the e-bay one dosn't carry the weight or the general feel of the b&m one.

In short, you get what you pay for.
However, there was a member that bought the one from Canada and he was quite please with it... I just cant remember his name right now. It was like 15 bux or something. Just search e-bay and you'll find it.
hope that helps.

i bought a nismo one a while back and the machined bolt that went thru the bottom of the nissan oem shifter that bolted it to the linkage was too big to go thru the nismo one..it didnt fit, so I put the stock one back it.

Um ... yea'll... ok

Cutting it won't do anything but lower your shifter, make it notchy and make you think you've some how shortened your throws when in reality yea'll ain't dont anything.

Can you imagine the desturction????? that would be like when I was a kid, I put a penny on my dad's model railroad and it was total mayhem. I thought the mini-trians would squish the crap out of that penny... Boy was I wrong.
Take some pictures after amtrak is done with running it over... I'm kinda interested, but in sadistic way.

My rule of thumb on making purchases on eBay is don't buy anything unless they're willing to give a full refund if I'm not happy with what I got.

I got a so called "nismo" short shifter from ebay. I got what I paid for. It didn't really make the throw that much shorter. To tell you the truth it didn't make the throw short enough for me to notice compared to stock. On top of that, it hits the plastic trim in 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear. So my advice would be to stay away from it. I'm gonna do away with it and pick up a b&m.

no you gotta have a real train run over change....line up a few nickles and pennies and the train will crush them together its kinda cool....im prolly not gonna stick a shifter on the tracks god forbid it derails. change is harmless though...

I just think its kind of a waste of money to get a short shifter for a maxima, I find the shifting is just fine as it is.

True but I think it has plenty advantages:

1) I drive with my friends a lot, we mess with music a lot, I keep smacking their hand when I shift while they're on the radio.

2) Shorter shifts = Faster shifts = Quicker and possibly smoother ride, POSSIBLY

3) Aes***ics, just looks nicer IMO

4) I can add it to my sig =) w00t

Have you driven a max with an STS? It's night and day difference.

well I haven't driven a max with a STS, but I like the OEM shifter just fine as is. Plus its going to be very time consuming to install an STS, not to mention the financial burden that will be placed on him, I mean he's only 17 and he's already doing major modifications. I just say there are better things to spend on a max than a short shifter thats all.

I am only 17, and the money is better spent elsewhere (i.e. college) but we all have our hobbies that our money goes to when it shouldn't.

The financial burden of a good STS is maybe $80? half a weeks pay, even on my high school payscale. Just got done putting in a PRCAI that fortunately only ran me $130.

All in all I'm most likely not going to do it, It would be nice, but I really just needed clarity on the nismo deal because I was surprised to see it, and then astonished at the price ($15)

Replacing your stock shifter with a STS really does not take that long.

I bought a crap ebay STS and it ended up not fitting . Lesson learned, the end.

Seriously, I saw 'Fre$h_turk' and just had a bad feeling. He lives in my state and I thought about meeting up once or twice but he flips out on the org like crazy.

Who knows though, I mean didn't he go out and just buy a new exhaust system, body kit, and whatnot? Maybe he's got the money to blow, I on the other hand am leaving for college next year and heh... lets just say I'm praying to win scholarships
