I think my exhaust leak is coming from the cat area ...

besides being annoyingly loud, does this affect performance in any way? My mileage has been the same so I'm thinking not ... but the car does feel a bit weak.

you're losing air. I would assume it hurts your performance a little. Effects mine

 

Get under there and find out what it is. There will be some loss in performance since there will be more turbulence. You can try getting it welded or maybe just a gasket.

 

any parts aftermarket? the flex section is usually the 1st to go. then gaskets, then broken welds or general rot, which shouldnt happen in CA.

 

only aftermarket related to that is greddy sp2. .. no aftermarket ypipe.

However, the cat was dropped earlier this year when I was getting the urethane shifter bushings installed ... after that, I believe the problem started to appear and increasingly got bad.

 

Chances are you need to take off the cat, clean the flanges (all 4) and reinstall with some RTV red.
