help with d2 coilovers

hey i just install some d2 coilovers on my car and i'm a bit confused. are you suppose to set the coilovers on the lowest damping and then go for a ride and adjust the spring until there are no bounce? then you can adjust your dampers to what you like right? H and L ---H = harder ride? L = softer ride?

right now my ride is bouncy as a ****....is this normal or am i not setting up the coilovers right?

Higher damping reduces bounce but makes impacts harder.
Lower damping softens impacts but makes the car more likely to bounce.

Starting at the lowest setting and working your way up is a good idea.

yep,

Find a speed bump and try driving over it. If the car bounces, increase the stiffness. Then try going over that speed bump again. In 10 - 15 minutes you will have properly tuned dumpers.

P.S. just drive slowly or you'll blow you new shocks.

It's opposite of what you think.
Twisting the adjuster on the top to the left (counter clockwise) is INCREASING the stiffness.
Turning them to the right (clockwise) is DECREASING stiffness.

Enjoy!

Hand tighten untill you can't.
Then use the wrench to do two full turns.

Then measure both front left and right, then rear left and right to make sure that the L+R sides are at the same setting.

That's a ton of preload. I wouldn't use remotely that much. I would just make the spring snug against the upper mount and that's it.

why would you preload it that much? IMO it's ok as long as the spring is not loose...

another thing to note. Your dampening adjustments are on the rebound side only. The compression side is fixed.

Depending on the valving of the shocks, all of them will feel a little different. The dampening adjustment is meant for fine tuning only. If your ride is harsh, keep the rebound setting medium and loosen your preload for more slack for a less bouncy feeling

Very true.
I'm not taking this stuff into consideration on a car..
I've been tuning my bike so much recently (and talk about adjustable suspension... shiz... EVRERYTHING is adjustable).

That's only for Koni Yellows. D2s adjust compression and rebound damping together.

Harshness and bounce are two different things. Also, the optimal setting will not necessarily be "medium". It has to be figured out through experimentation.

Ah, i see that D2 has one **** for both

Yes, harshness and bounce are two different things hence I addressed the two issues separately. Harshness - keep rebound setting medium, Bouncy feeling - loosen preload

You mean to tell me that I twisted the **** the wrong way? Damn it then that means my rear is set on 1 and the front is on 4. Well dang no wonder I always got some bounce on bumps.
