New Mod. Maxima to Minima

Yea it sucks. First deer. Yes, I'm fine. What happened was I was coming home friday night and I came around a corner about a mile from my house and this deer jumped in front of my. Didn't even have a chance to brake. It set off my air bags so I couldn't see anything (lots of smoke from those things) and I went strait through 4 wood guard posts and into a 3ft drainage ditch. Waiting to hear from the Insurance.

I really hope it's totaled.

My poor baby

James

at least you are ok... I estimate damage to be around 8-10k dollars. you have damage to your passenger doors which looks like you might have frame damage.

Some of the damage might be from the wood posts.

Sorry about your loss, glad you are ok. I work in insurance and your car appears to be a total loss. The car does not have a frame it has a sub frame, the frame rails are bent and will need to be pulled. Insurance should total. You going to get another max?

i repair a lot of salvaged maxima's, that frame is not damaged. the frame is right behind the bumper reinforcement, and it looks okay from the pictures. most of the damage is right above the frame. if i were you, i'll get as much as money from the insurence and repair it myself. it's a easy fix. unless the control arms and all that stuff is bent.

obvious: hood, rad, rad support, headlight assembly, fogs, bumper cover, bumper reinforcement, both fenders, front door, both airbags, air bag module, grill, hood latch assembly, windshield?,tire?,intake, hid ballast and ignitor, sidemarkers, fender liner, splash shields, labor, paint and blending, rental costs. and im sure it did damage to control arms and alot of the suspension components slamming into that ditch. if that isnt totalled, id be super suprised

I was checking out the pictures of the front wheels. The left one is strait, along with the steering wheel. The right one isn't, so Theres some more work.

I'm really not sure what I would get next. I dont know if I could get another max. I just don't think it would feel right

Hey Capp,

I live in Farmington, CT, and I had an accident with my 99 max back in June. Let me assure you, that car is totalled. Frame damage, whether or not there is on your car, is not the only thing that will total a car, you have enough body work alone before you even get to the damaged suspension/engine components. I will be shocked and amazed if insurance doesn't total it.

As for your next car, I only got another max because I could upgrade from the 99 to the 02. Lord knows if my car got smashed now, I wouldn't see the 6th gen as an upgrade. Not sure if I could replace the max either. I would consider other things that work on the max's weaknesses, like a Subaru Legacy GT for the all wheel drive (especially with that New England winter around the corner). Anyway, glad to see your okay, where was the accident? I'll make sure to watch out for deer around there .

I work in the Farmington industrial park. Norgren Fluid controls. The accident happend on south rd in New Hartford, about a mile from my house.
I really dont know what I'll get if it is totaled. I'm thankful I have a winter beater(1992 accord with 220,000 on the clock) I looking at a lot of different things. I really like the 2.7tt they put in the s4 and a6, but I dont know if I could live with the reliability,(or lack there of.)

I'll keep everyone posted on the status.

Thanks guys

James

:(

Sorry to hear what happened. Check out page 2 of my Honda pilot cardomain, thear you will se a deer deterant system that i've seen work day in day out. It costed a good $250 but is something that is worthwile to put on your car (well, your new one). They do sell a cheaper product thats used for bikes and cars (which is also smaller), I got the truck vertion. Well to say the least if you need pictures or info on the system PM me.

I think I remember him saying he had a 2k1 maf = $100

That sucks man. Little early for deer season. I'm just waiting for Bambi to run infront of my car.

Speaking of selling parts..... dibs on the headers. Unless of course the front one is dented.
