Selling my Max guys... come check it out

I've been a Maxima Lover since 1985 and a member on here since 2000. But now times are tight, the mortgage is due and my son has to go to college!! Cant afford this hobby anymore. My loss is your gain if you are interested. I hate to do it but I created a monster that I cant safely drive around NYC and leave anywhere and I cant keep paying for a car I dont drive that much.
Check out the FS Forum http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=496528 and my website for details and let me know what you think!!!

$28k for a 2000 Max... Turbo or not, it is not worth it.

Never going to get close to that. Possibly half of it... Good luck.

If you are going to do this kind of work on a Max, you better be sure you are going to keep it because it will not hold any real value.

It is prob worth more in parts.

Nice car! Wouldn't pay anywhere near $28K for a 6 year old car, but nicely done nonetheless.

I was gonna say... You'd probly be better off parting it out... You'll never get $20k+ for that...

I just looked at this car a second time. First off that's a lot of effort you put into that. jsut outta curiousity what are you going to be driving or do you take the train? And WTF would you put so much $$$$ into something that you can't keep. Definitely not trying to kick you while you're down but just wondering what are all the circumstances surrounding this decision. Thats a big lose.

400 really unrealiable HP on a FWD car...

Last I remember, that is too much on a mainly stock motor. I would not be suprised to see the connecting rods snap really soon. The last person who was trying to push his motor this far blew it sky high on the dyno, tried a 3.5 swap with his blower and stopped hlaf way, and parted his stuff out.

Thanx..

Thanx for your feedback and honesty.... To reply to a couple of our comments. Have you guys ever heard the saying... "Its not the age, but the mileage"? I would'nt worry about the car being 6 years old becuase its in better condition that alot of 1 or 2 years old cars.

As far as blowing up the engine. That 402whp dyno is just that... A DYNO! Its not like I was driving it around all the time with 110 octance in it and running 14lb of boost! I ran 93 octane and about 8lbs of boost. Now when someone wanted to talk smack or try to test me.... then we would crank it up and have a little fun. My car has always run fine man because I know what I'm doing.

As far as the price goes.... It makes sense dosnt it when you do the math? I know its pricey but its still a loss for me. I think its worth it too. And the car is paid for fellas... It just so happens that the Max is the only thing I can sell that will give me the money I need for bills, mortgage etc... Its not that I could'nt pay for the car. I meant to pay NY insurance on a car that was in the garage for 75% of the year is a waste. I'll sell it and let someone else enjoy my work... Thats usually how it goes.

On your car...

Mileage means nothing...

Running that much boost and straining an engine NOT BUILT FOR THAT KIND OF ABUSE JUST ONCE... Is enough to do a lot of damage. Your entire bottom end and most of your top end is stock, be VERY grateful your car did not blow on the dyno.

As was said before, it is worth more in parts. I would not touch that car with a 10' pole, especially for $28k. I understand you put a ton of money into that car, but you wasted it on a dime a dozen car, that has a poor high power platform and a motor that was never built for ANY boost.

EDIT:

On top of possable motor damage, the tranny is not built for that much power, neither are the axles and the LSD is not that good either.

No matter how you do the math, IT IS NOT WORTH IT! Sorry you dug such a huge hole for yourself with this car, but it is crappy to expect someone else to have share the burden of your F* up.

My stock 01 Max SE Meridiam Package Max cost me 11k about 4 months ago with 50k... I see where KBB for this would be 12k. KBB for mine was 11600 at the time. The car looks AMAZING and I wish you the best of luck in selling it. It's truly unique.

On another note, I have seen people mod more mundane cars than this... An Accord.

Wow.... are you sure you are a maxima owner? I could tell from your first post you dont like the car... thats fine. Your input is noted and you have a very strong opinion but you are dead wrong. It dosnt sound like you've done much research on Turbo'd Maximas.... or even turbo'd 3.0 engines. There are guys on here that have had a turbo longer than me (over 3 years) on a stock engine that beat on their Maximas 10x harder than I do to mine with no ill result. Its all about tuning dude. You underestimate the 3.0 my friend. Remember there are 300zx guys w/the the stock 3.0tt engine that are running 500whp easy. Also built 3.0 nissan engine put down well over 1000whp.
Someone else posted something about the 3.5 swap. Even though its cool to know you can do the swap now, I think its a waste if you're looking for power from a Maxima. Just build your 3.0 up it'll probably cost you less. Think about the cost of putting pistons, rods & cams in your 3.0 vs doing a 3.5 swap where you have to buy the engine & tranny, standalone and more.
You are obviously not a fan of modded cars and thats fine too but I think alot of people on here would disagree w/you when you say that you F*ck up when you mod your car to make it unique. You are in the minority there too. Most guys on here are into modding their Maxima.... I think this is what this website it mainly for.
I dont want to make this into a Mod bashing thread either we'll just agree to disagree. Again I've already had offers from people who actually know all about the car just wanted to give you guys the first shot.

^^^^^ I don't think he was saying that modding the car was a f*(k up, but rather that you dug a hole doing it. He did blow you up though...
like everyone said I hope you get a fair deal for the ride. It shouldn't be stuck in a garage somewhere for no one to see. its really nice and shows a lot of heart and hard work went into it. good luck

Thanx for your support man. Its not that I cant pay my bills either. Its just that I dont really drive the car and I can get good money for the car as it is right now. With it out of the way, I can focus on my home and my family and not worry about what mod is next. I guess I just outgrew the game. Gotten a few nibbles already too Thanx!
