Help...Bad Slave Cylinder on 96?

This morning my clutch pedal felt like it had no pressure and it would engage almost immediatly...After driving a mile I could not engage the clutch at all. I pulled over and looked at the clutch master cylinder reservoir and it was empty.

I limped home in first and filled up the reservoir with brake fluid and was able to get to work but I don't think the slave cylinder is working very well.

I don't have any leaks on the garage floor or on my floor mat so I'm not sure where all the hydrolic fluid went but I would imagine the slave cylinder has gone bad or something. It has a new ACT clutch that is maybe a year old but I've only owned the car for about a two months.

I just moved up to Spokane from Denver so I want to make sure I take my Maxima to a good place.

If I need to I can get it over to Jason Turner's shop in Seattle but if there are any closer shops let me know.

I'm not sure what all the sudden happened...Is this common on 96 5-speeds?

Thanks,
Han

I had a similar problem on my 98....clutch wouldnt engage sometimes or have no pressure and fluid kept disappearing but i didnt notice any leaks. I changed the slave cylinder, bled the lines nicely and everything is great now....still have no idea where all that fluid kept going....

I had that problem as well, and it turned out that my clutch line was leaking. Look down on your clutch line, and you might see fluid all over it. I had fluid all over the top of my tranny! If it is the clutch line, then its gonna be an easy fix, just order a stainless steel one on the group deal forum here for like 25 bucks, and you're set.

It's the clutch line...confirmed today at lunch. Just got in on the line group buy so I'll bleed tonight and install the new line on Thursday. Thanks!

Mike,

Is this what your slave cylinder looks like. PM me your paypal and I'll get it as I may as well replace mine since I'm installing a new SSCL. Is it an easy remove replace?
